  1. ^ This is probably my main cause of concern, how can a HDD connected directly to the motherboard have much higher average response times to a 4 year old external HDD connected via USB 3.0.
  2. Hi, I am copying a game from my external HDD (which is ~3-4 years old) to my internal HDD (which is less than 1 years old). My external HDD average response time is between 1-20ms whereas my internal HDD's average response time is between 100-1100ms (Has reached 1000+ms a few times). Is there an issue with my HDD or something, not sure if this is normal. My SSD has an average response time of 0-0.2ms (AFAIK).
  3. Do you think it applies to this monitor: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WUACVIC/ I'm rethinking if I should get a 1440p monitor as the price difference between a 1440p monitor and this monitor is only £100 or less. However, I'd rather save that £100 if games running at 1440p on a 4K monitor would look bad.
  4. I'm not willing as I also need to buy a 1440p monitor, but thanks anyway!
  5. Hi, I'm looking to buy a GTX 1070 for <£410. I've found a few on Amazon, however I'm not sure which one to get. I don't really know what determines what's best for a graphics card so I'd like help choosing which one to get. I'm not a 'fanboy' so I don't care about the brand, I want the best performance. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Palit-Gamerock-NVIDIA-GeForce-Graphics/dp/B01GVN4JHO/ref=sr_1_11?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1475423251&sr=1-11&keywords=gtx+1070 https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Nvidia-GeForce-Gaming-Graphic/dp/B01GVHNWUK/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1475423251&sr=1-3&keywords=gtx+1070 https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1070-ARMOR/dp/B01GVHNW3W/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1475423251&sr=1-1&keywords=gtx+1070 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zotac-GeForce-1070-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B01GVNNOSY/ref=sr_1_9?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1475423251&sr=1-9&keywords=gtx+1070 I plan on doing 1440p gaming @ 60FPS, and maybe upgrade to 1440p gaming @ 144FPS when I have the money to get a monitor like that.
  6. Yeah, I thought there'd be an issue like that. Thanks, guess I'll just get a 1440p monitor.
  7. Right, I like the idea of a 144Hz one. I'm aiming for 24", no space for 27". Anyway, thanks! Won't be marking as solved right now in case I get more ideas.
  8. Hi, I'm planning on getting a 4K monitor. However, I'll be using a GTX 1070, meaning I can't max settings on it so I might as well just buy a 1440p monitor (save money). If I were to play at 1440p resolution on a 4K monitor, will it look different (worse) than playing at 1440p on a 1440p monitor? I know it sounds weird, but just in case...
  9. Right, thanks guys =) If my budget supports it, I'll get GTX 1070 and a 4K monitor, but if not, I'll get GTX 1070 and a 2K monitor rather than just a GTX 1080.
  10. Hi, I currently own 2 monitors, 1080p@60Hz and 1080p@144Hz. I run both off my GTX 970. However, I'm planning on upgrading my graphics card. I'm not sure what will benefit me in the long run, a GTX 1070 and a 4K monitor or just a GTX 1080. I've never experienced '4K', only 2K (my phone display). I don't game much but when I do game (i.e. in my spare time when I'm bored), I want to run my games at max settings. If I get a 4K monitor, I know GTX 1070 isn't capable of doing 4K@60FPS so I'd lower the settings to low/medium to try and get close to 60, if not, run games at 1440p on it. This is my reason for being more inclined towards GTX 1070 + 4K monitor, however I'm not sure if it's worth it in the long run getting a GTX 1080 instead. Note 1: My GTX 970 is able to run games at high settings at 144FPS, but I get thermal throttling as it reaches 80C and stays there, causing random stuttering. Note 2: I mainly do programming and configuration stuff + work + internet browsing, so that's why 2 monitors benefits me greatly right now. I'm able to watch a video on one screen and do programming on my main monitor.
  11. Oh? I thought no one'd buy it because people'd prefer to go with the RX 480 or the GTX 1060 now, similar prices. But alright, if you think it'd sell, I'll try. Thanks @DaMainMan @Ichi and @TiberiusMoon
  12. Hi, I'm going to be upgrading soon to a GTX 1080 from my current GTX 970. However, I really like my GTX 970 and the only issue I've ever had with it was temperatures being at 80C when playing games like Black Ops 3, otherwise it ran everything at high settings at 60FPS, with CS:GO running at max settings (with AA) at/above 144FPS. This means I'm not really liking the idea of dumping it (although I could put it into my brother's PC but he doesn't play games), I'd rather have a use for it somehow. I was liking the idea of having the GTX 970 only for PhysX but my motherboard is only an ASUS Z97-P and so it only has one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, with the other PCIe being PCIe 2.0 x16 (x2 mode) and so I'm not really sure I can do anything else... I can't sell it because no one would really buy a 3-4 month used Zotac GTX 970 with blower fan. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with it, or should I just dump it into my brother's PC (he doesn't play games on it).
  13. Nice, uhm if you have a GTX 1070 it's perfectly cable of doing either so it's just up to if you want really smooth play on FPS games which is usually for people who play competitively, then 144Hz. Again, I'd go for 1440P for non hardcore 1337 gaming.
