  1. Thanks. I've only been using Ryzen Balanced ever since. Will be trying Windows high performance power plan and change the power mode. Hope this will push my cpu a bit more.
  2. Are energy settings (Best Performance) Seperate from Windows performance (Power plan)? If so, could you tell me where i can change the energy to best performance?
  3. Ryzen Performance or Windows performance?
  4. I've read that with cool and quiet disabled you can brick your cpu. Is this true? Also, this solved the problem for me as far as idle temps go. I would be at 1.4 VOLT on idle. With Cool 'n quiet enabled, my idle volts and temps went down.
  5. And you are 55c-60c on LOAD. That's very good. You shouldn't be worrying about your idle temps so much man. Just enjoy your rig and try doing the things I told you. Ryzen's are known for spiking a bit on idle.
  6. Dont return the board. Its fine. I have it aswell. No need to go overkill for Ryzen 5 3600. Provide me with a screenshot of your Ryzen Master (If you dont have it, Download it).
  7. Yo man. I've also had this problem. Go into your bios. (I have the same mobo and cpu) enable AMD cool 'n quiet. Alright good. Now restart. Next, download the AMD chipset for the B450 motherboard (Just google it). After this, you will have the Ryzen balanced and the Ryzen high performance power plan in windows. Choose AMD Ryzen balanced. Tell me if this worked. It worked for me. You should see lower voltages on idle AND lower temps.
  8. AMD cool 'n quiet = BIOS. Ryzen balanced = windows power plan, after installing the chipset for your MOBO from the amd website. (For example I chose B450 since that's what my motherboard has.
  9. When gaming, 60-65. Stress testing max 73c so far. (Cinebench R20). Using a hyper 212 evo
  10. What about the fluctuating in cores? You think it's because i've enabled Precision Boost Overdrive? (The rest is on stock, voltages etc.)
  11. Guys, I'm having a bit of trouble with my R5 3600. (Either that, or I do not fully understand Ryzen yet). When gaming, My cores never boost to the advertised GHz (4.2). They fluctuate from 4075Mhz to 4050Mhz to 3975Mhz. When playing games like BF5, I'm experiencing some stuttering. It looks to me that the cores are not fully being used to what they're capable of, since they're fluctuating. Using the Ryzen Balanced power plan, PBO is on (In BIOS), A-XMP enabled (3200mhz 16gb ddr4 ram, cinebench r20 I'm scoring 3420 on multi (71c full load) and even then the cores barely hit 4Ghz. Is there something i am missing? Using a MSI b450 tomahawk. Thanks
  12. Yes. Otherwise you won't have the Ryzen Balanced / Performance power plans in your power options. Choose balanced. Put AMD cool 'n quiet on. Your voltages will drop in idle, and so will your temps. Tell me if it worked!
  13. This is with ryzen balanced power plan, XMP enabled, AMD cool 'n quiet
  14. I'm asking because, on paper it says ryzen 5 3600 boosts to 4.2 Mhz. Mine only goes up to 4074.
  15. So you're saying PBO did nothing for you (in terms of performance)?
  16. XFR = a bios setting that you just enable? Also do you know what PBO is called in MSI bios? And what do you mean by tighten memory timings. I've never touched memory speeds/timings in my life. Just got a new rig.
  17. I fixed this. Download AMD's chipset for your motherboard type. Enable Cool 'n Quiet in BIOS. Use Ryzen balanced power plan. Worked for me.
  18. Guys, How do you enable PBO on a ryzen 5 3600 with Ryzen Master? When I enable it in the program, click on save. It seems like its working. When I reboot however, I have to manually change it to PBO again. Is there a motherboard feature for this? I can't find it on my MSI B450 Tomahawk. Or is it described differently in BIOS? Also, is it smart/nescessary to enable PBO for a non-x ryzen? Cooling with an hyper 212 evo RGB black edition with a decent airflow case (Cooler master Mastercase H500) So temp's shouldn't really be an issue. Using Ryzen Balanced power plan + AMD Cool 'n Quiet. Thanks! Any tips will be highly appreciated.
  19. My RTX 2070 just started coil whining. Perfectly ruining my quiet system. Is this dangerous for the graphics card? Can someon explain to me what coil whining really is and if there is a way to reduce, or fix it. Thanks
  20. Because on idle its 32 minimum, it just keeps jumping. voltage @ 1.4, etc.
  21. Could this have anything to do with thermal paste, or is this software or bios related?
  22. You saying OC'ing should fix this?
  23. Guys, I've recently completed my ryzen 5 3600 + msi b450 tomahawk build. Whilst gaming, the temps are a steady 60-68 degrees. However, in idle, it jumps from 35-47 in 1 second randomly. This can't be okay right? Anyone have an explanation/fix for this? I'm using ryzen master as a monitoring software. Also used CPU-Z, HWMonitor etc. All saying the same. Its just jumping from 35-50 and going back, then 50 again etc. This is with 2-5% cpu usage. Thanks Edit: My cores are always on 4GHz aswell. The cores keep jumping in idle.
  24. renamed the file to MSI.ROM, formatted to fat32, MSI.ROM is in the root directory of the stick, i unplugged the CPU power on the mobo, unplugged gpu, removed ram
