  1. I guess I will just have to try it out for myself really. I currently play cs on a 60hz monitor and with a laser mouse so I already am used to a bit of input lag. v-sync is stupid on 60hz monitors for cs. Im getting 144hz soon and maybe even a optical mouse, so hopefully I will find a balance. If not I can live without it. I'm used to tearing in cs already but it will help me in less twitch games. really wish gsync monitors weren't $300 more than just 144hz
  2. Is Adaptive V-Sync Bad for CSGO? please explain
  3. Hey guys I am really confused. I have been out of the tech scene for about a year now ever since I got my computer up and running. I am trying to upgrade my two Asus PB278Q's to two Asus MG279Q's. They are basicly the same monitor when it comes to color specs so I am really excited to get 144hz ips 1440p. This is a bit of a funny choice for me because the MG278Q supports AMD Free sync while I am currently running Dual GTX 970's. I realize I will not be able to use Free sync but tbh I don't care because these monitors are really the only ones out there that appeal to me specifically. Plus nVidia will be putting a very high price premium on all the monitors that support gsync for a long time I think. The $579 price tag of the MG279Q's vs the $800 Acer XB270HU is a lot more affordable with the only real minus will be gsync. For this reason I was looking at using adaptive V-sync once I get these new monitors. So I guess my real question is this; I have heard many confusing statements about Displayport standards and adaptive v-sync and I have no real idea what to do. I hear DP 1.3 supports adaptive v-sync and many other good things. I get super confused when I see that my GPU ports read DP 1.2 as well as my monitor ports. I need clarification on the display port standard and if I can actually use Adaptive V-sync. M current setup: 4790k Devil's Canyon Dual GTX 970's Evga acx Dual PB278Q's
  4. Unfortunately the Silverstone FT02 case is a bitch to watercool. I would have to get a massive radiator and modify the case to fit all the tubing ans such. When I get the budget to do so I will but I'm not sure if I will be sticking with the same case. Plus the whole point of the FT02 is excellent air cooling. I have the three 180mm fans at 1200rpm bowling at my Noctua NH-D15 and my two evga GTX 970's. My CPU idles at 22 degrees C and it never goes above 55 degrees C which is exceptional and very close to water cooling performance. My GPU's never go above 80 degrees C under load and are quiet and cool at idle. No need to water cool right now but I might when I have the budget.
  5. Why does everyone on this forum associate the G502 with memes ?
  6. I am looking for a new mouse because the one I currently have is slowly dying. I currently have a Logitech G700 and I love it. I especially love the ergonomic design of it. I am I half claw/palm user because I have big hands. I would upgrade to the G700s but I need a optical mouse because I mainly play Counter strike and I am beginning to notice the slight input lag of laser mice. I use all four buttons on the side of my G700 but I could do with three. That being said I don't want a mouse with a lot of buttons. I'm open to all suggestions and I am willing to answer any questions people have about my preferences. Thanks for your time ! 7. Hello Guys! Its been a whole year can you believe it! A lot has happened since my last post and I have a lot to show you guys. Sadly I have no picture for ya'll because I am lazy , and my computer isn't quite perfect. Since the last post I have ordered and installed my dual 970's as well as set up my two beautiful Asus PB278Q's. When I got my GPU's I never made cables for them because I was low on supplies at the time and I have been running them with stock gpu cables ever since. Right now I am in the middle of my first semester of college so time is a bit hard to come by! I think that once winter comes and my semester is over I will have time to order more cable sleeve and pins so I can finish my build! I will try to keep you guys updated on the build when I start it up again. But until then I will be busy at school! Finishing picture will come!
  8. Thanks Everyone! It is my pride and joy! More updates to come! Cough** Cough** HURRY UP 900 SERIES
  9. Forum ID: Darkmatter35 Build Title: Empirical By Darkmatter Thread URL: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/200382-empirical-by-darkmatter/ Description: My first computer build that I poured my heart and soul into, Hope you enjoy!
  10. Hello Linus Tech Tips forum members! I while back I was on this forum planning out my system, Empirical. My goal for this build was to elegantly design a computer in the Silverstone FT02. I made sure my cable and color management was pristine in order to create my dream pc! Hardware: Core i7 4790k (stock clocks) Asus Z97 Sabertooth Mother Board EVGA GTX970 x2 Corsair Dominator Platinum Ram 4x4gb Dimms 1866mhz total of 16gb Noctua NH-D15 Silvertone Strider Gold 1000W 2x WD Green 2TB hard drives in Raid 1 Samsung 840 Evo 250gb ssd Lamptron FC5 V2 Controlling 3x Enermax TB Apollish fans in the bottom of the FT02 Anyway over the past month I have done a huge amount of cosmetic adjustments to the build. So those of you that don't remember I am using the Silverstone FT02 as my case. In my opinion it is the best case of its kind. Here are some pictures of the build as it stands And after a few months waiting for the GTX970's to be released I have the finished product! Overall mods to the system Fully Custom cables Replaced the side panel window with a custom ordered Acrylic sheet that is very high quality and abrasion resistant Plasti Dipped the Asus Sabertooth Mobo sheild Plasti Dipped the frame of the Noctua A-15 CPU fan Plasti Dipped the tops of my Dominator ram modules
  11. I recently tried to install CPU z and Core temp on my computer and unexpectedly it installed Snap do as well. My browser is all jacked up and It isn't allowing me to uninstall it in the Control panel. I have run many scans with avast and still nothing. what can I do?
  12. Paint them Black with Plasti Dip. They look amazing
  13. But is what I have done good enough ?
  14. So in my systen I have a samsung 840 evo 250gb ssd and 2 WD green 2TB hard drives. I wanted to setup the hard drives in raid 1 so I went into the bios and set the sata mode to RAID mode. Then I entered the other interface with Ctrl + I and setup the raid array. Then whenever I tried to boot into windows it kept looping the boot without fully entering windows. I could only enter windows fully once I turned the sata configuration back to AHCI in the bois. When I entered windows the two drives showed up as one drive that was 2TB like I planned and the whole thing works fine. I have never seen in any tutorials to turn back the sata configuration once your setup the raid. Is what I have done Ok or have I missed something?
  15. 7/10 Poor attention to hardware choice/efficiency etc. Why titan black???????? Poor attention to detail Performance wise its better than most rigs
  16. Will there be a reference GTX 780 with 6-8gb of VRAM from nvidia coming soon? Or is it only from Evga?
  17. How do I replace my current hard drive with my OS and all my files on it with a new blank hard drive?
  18. Hey Guys I have come to you with a ram question. I run a sandy bridge 2nd gen intel core i3 processor. I think the ram is DDR2? Idk. But on to my problem. For those of you that play Minecraft I get weird block lag for no apparent reason when I build. Here is a video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMJtU4GwXNE I used to think that the problem was because of my internet signal so I got a hardline connection to my router. That didn't fix anything. Now I am thinking that the reason is because my ram is doing that thing where it is copying to my hard drive (don't know the term but I know it exists). My Ram is like janky old Samsung Planet First 8gb kit. I don't know the speed because it doesn't say on the side of the sticks. I tested this on my dad's computer with the exact same files but different hardware and I didn't have the lag issue. He runs this old amd processor that is less powerful than mine. Would it be wise to replace my ram and do you have any recommendations for a lite weight computer that mostly runs minecraft?
  19. Wow Thanks that works out perfectly for me! I just did some scaling math via the pictures on the the Asus web site and there is about a difference of a inch! Thanks!
  20. Hello everyone! I am doing some sizing measurments for my new rig and I need to know the length of the PCB from the bracket to the end of the card. I need this because I am watercooling the card and the length that Asus gives me with the additional length of the air cooler is not the length I'm looking for also I need this because I am calculating whether or not I have enough clearance between to rad and the gpu. The Stock Nvidia GTX 780 pcb length is 10.5in. Is it the same on the Asus card?
  21. I can't decide between these options. I am looking for the best performance to noise ratio in a rad/fan combo Fans: 120mm/140mm NB BlackSilent Pro's (1000-1700rpm variants) 120mm Gentle Typhoon's 120mm/140mm/180mm SilverStone AP's Rads: SR1's triple 120mm/140mm/180mm Rads AlphaCool Triple 120mm/140mm/180mm Rads Can't be thicker than 50mm Looking to fit this in a SilverStone RV02E Triple 180mm rad preferred Really don't want to go above 1800rpm on the fans All input will be taken into consideration!
  22. Does anyone know how much power an Asus R9 280x uses?
