  1. Thanks for the replies. It doesn't really work out badly since i bought it so cheap
  2. I don't see evidence of burn damage that I'd expect (i should've taken a before photo) but the metal connector was kinda pushed to the side. I tried the power supply with a mobo that only needs a 4 pin and the psu worked with the other side of the connector. I don't know what to think
  3. It's not actually burned but some of the metal and plastic has been damaged
  4. I bought a used CX750M and intend to use it in my i7 6700k/z270 system. I noticed that the one metal connector bit was crushed (as if someone jammed something in there) so I moved into a position where it fits into the motherboard. I'm just wondering if it's a bad idea to try and use the power supply like this. Thanks, Simeon
  5. I have a Vega 56 in my system and am wondering which PSU would be better to use? -CX600 green unit -CX450M grey unit I have both of these on hand and I'm not buying a new PSU. Specs: i7 6700K @ 1.3V 2x8GB DDR4 2133Mhz Red Dragon Vega 56 CX450M 2015 Just a quick question, thanks for reading.
  6. My bad, I can't return it as I didn't buy it new myself. EDIT: I could try and get a replacement from ASUS but i don't know how well that would go..
  7. This motherboard was new but damaged in shipping. The CPU pins are all good and I cannot see any damage other than that to the corner. The board is slightly bent but there are no cracks in the board. It looks like it has broken a trace. I used my i7 6700k to test the board. The CPU was fully working before and after testing the board. When turned on, it gave the error 00. When I pressed CMOS reset it gave the code 13 and the CPU diag LED shone blue. I can only assume that this is due to the damage pictured yet I haven't tried to BIOS flash it. I would be surprised if the corner is the root cause, yet I would appreciate any advice if it is fixable. Thanks ?
  8. Is there any way to mod the bios/make all instructions recognised on the intel motherboard? I can only boot windows 7 right now and I have the latest BIOS (0017) with 4gb ddr2 800mhz. I have - (MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, EM64T) Thanks in advance, Simi
  9. I have two sticks of DDR4, one Samsung and one Crucial running in dual-channel and taking reference from i should be able to overclock it using the OC tweaker feature. I'm just wondering if it's possible as the non-z OC feature doesnt show up in the BIOS. Thanks in advance and sorry to be a nonce, Simi
  10. https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/7924/cooler-master-masterair-pro-4-cpu-review/index6.html The MasterAir Pro 4 seems much quieter than the 212 and is said to generally perform better so would that be the better choice? I ended up buying the MasterAir and the temps are much better plus i cant hear it
  11. Hey, I have an i7 6700k system i built last year, current stuff: i7 6700k H110M GTX 960 Corsair 330R Titanium I own an Arctic Alpine 11 Pro Rev.2 which idles in the 20's but can get a little hot while gaming and when i ran intelburntest the temps were worrying (85+) but it is generally dead silent and that is very nice.. I have 3 options I've narrowed down to really which are the MasterAir Pro 4 - £25 Hyper 212 Evo - £24 Pure Rock Slim - £20 What would be the best idea or should I not upgrade? Thanks in advance
  12. How do they compare in games on the older hardware?
  13. I'm trying to help my friend out with upgrading his PC (Advent T9610) to Windows 10 from Vista Q6600 GTX 750ti 5gb RAM.. Is there any way of updating directly to Windows 10 without losing any data or should I just make him backup the data on an SD and create a bootable usb? Thanks in advance
  14. i'm pretty certain windows installs legacy drivers, I tried using those drivers before and the gpu didn't post (edit) I take it back, uninstalled windows drivers, ran amd cleanup utility and installed a new copy of the 13.1 legacy drivers. Catalyst Control Center works and could adjust the display. All good now
  15. idk i just install the gpu then click update in the windows settings and it installs the drivers
  16. I keep finding myself on this forum one way or another. I picked up a HD 4890 from somebody as they listed it online giving it away so I thought I could give it to my friend who has a 8400GS in his ancient pc.. I'm trying to get it working on my pc for the time being and once installed in my system the display won't fit my 1080p monitor and in trying to fix it, i have uninstalled previous drivers and reinstalled fresh drivers and installed Catalyst Control Panel again to try and fix the 'Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center.' message to no avail. I'd appreciate any help and advice Thanks in advance
  17. Sorry, but why would I even think of getting a ryzen 3 with 8gb of overpriced ram and a 1050ti when I could get a processor similar to a i7 4770/4790 and a gpu like a 1060/580? ..for the same price
  18. Hi, I found a Xeon 1231 v3 + 16gb HyperX DDR3 + Gigabyte Z97-D3 + Corsair A50 bundle second hand near me for £200 and not sure whether i should buy it and build a pc to possibly sell or keep/have for a friend. I could get that and a psu, hdd/ssd or whatever and have a pc in competiton with my main one for like £400-500 when mine was nearer £700 (i7 6700k, h110m, cx450m, 480gb extreme pro, 16gb ddr4 2133mhz, rx 480 which i sold xd) Pricing estimate for my idea - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/bRGfTH So, what do you think? Thanks in advance
  19. I could, it has 3gb as is in 2x1gb, 2x512mb. I thought if I just added a 4gb stick it would give 6.5gb which would be alright and the cheaper the better tbh. The mobo only supports up to 8gb so I could do 4x2gb/2x4gb which would work.
  20. Hey, my friend owns one of these - http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/pc/QC4001.htm and I suggested upgrading it, then I found out the psu wattage (230w). So, the q6600 is still a 'decent' cpu which when paired with a lower end gpu can give pretty ok performance and based on his needs it would be great for him. He wants the PC for schoolwork/general browsing and casual/esports gaming. (He'd be happy for anything as the base PC is a huge upgrade over his crappy celeron laptop. We could get a 4 gb stick of ram to replace one of the 512mb sticks for £8 and buy a 1050/750ti all dependant on if the psu would provide enough power. (Don't really want to get a 1050 so it doesn't matter if it blows up). Thanks in advance
  21. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B01F1PSHVW/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used I got one of these off amazon whd for £105 like new
  22. Why do you need to upgrade in the first place, RX 470 - GTX 1060 sounds like you're getting carried away trying to milk unneeded fps
