I have a gtx 1060 but I plan to get a 30 series card when they come out.

I have decided to upgrade my 5 year old system (i5 6500) that I build when i was 15 or so and didn't have a lot of money. After hours of internet research and reading numerous reviews and other forum posts I have still not been able to reach a decision on a new CPU. My system will be used 95% for gaming (VR gaming as well) and occasionally for creative work. My budget allows for up to the 3900x however if this is not going to get me any benefits I would rather put the money towards something else (probably custom loop cooling). I understand that the gaming benefits of the 3900x are minimal but would it provide longevity to my system over the 3800x or 3700x? Out of the 3700x 3800x and 3900x which would you guys choose.
