  1. @For Science! yeah thats the same 4 pins on the 8600K. And im not too worried i figure id just buy an extra tube of LM and try it a few times and check it before i put the lid back on with silicon but i seen like 2 videos where they went pop and 1 video where the guy took it off 9 months later and had the first pin covered but was less then a hair away from the second pin. and thats what made me wonder about a non-conductive glue or something of that nature just to be on the safe side.
  2. I did my research before thinking about delidding and I have seen about 30 video's online of people getting 15-20 degree temp drops after delidding coffee lake cpu's so i don't really think thats exaggeration.... and yes i agree @WereCat helped alot as you can see i thanked him/her for their help.
  3. right now im getting mid to low 80's at full load just under 5 ghz not the worst in the world but if delidding can get me a 20 to 15 degree drop.
  4. I'll have to check it out... i guess i can just dig out my multi meter and sneak a bottle of the wifes nail polish and test if its conductive or not... thanks for the help
  5. I have seen a few people saying that but also did a little research on nail polish and have found some to be conductive and thats when i started looking into non conductive glues and found artic silver makes a two part non-conductive glue but havent been able to find any videos of people using it.
  6. Not sure where to post this but feel free to move. Need a little help. Just got a 8600K and not happy with the temps i'm getting, and have been looking into delidding it. i have done a bunch of research on it and doesn't seem to hard with a proper delidding tool so i'm not worried about that part but i am a little worried about the 4 pins right next to the die and i feel safe that with a few tries and testing i can get the amount of liquid metal right. But i know there's a few non-conductive thermal glues on the market and was wondering if it would be a good idea to apply a thin layer around the die to make sure the pins and everything around the die is protected from the conductive liquid metal just to be safe.
  7. i just order a X5450 off ebay for 20 bucks to try it with an old Asus P5Q motherboard. Did you have any problems with the microcodes on the motherboard?
  8. I saw the video a while back about Budget gaming on a dual xeon cpu build. But what about a build using a socket 771 cpu on a socket 775 motherboard where you get all the goodies that come with a 775 motherboard.
  9. What about converting a socket 771 cpu to a socket 775 motherboard. You wont get to run dual cpu's but you get all the cool stuff that comes along with a good socket 775 motherboard.
