  1. Cheers I'll give that a go
  2. Hi I have a fractal design define xl r2 It comes with 3 140mm fans. I have put 2 at the front for intake, one at the rear for exhaust. Would it be a good idea to take a spare 120mm as bottom intake? I am air cooling a 8700k and 1070 Thanks for your advice
  3. Woops I checked the wrong one. Yes the 8700 is still pretty expensive but I'll see what price it is when its back in stock at my local shop Cheers
  4. i did consider it but it's quite expensive here at the moment ($730) - i was thinking if i went with coffee lake i could upgrade to it later
  5. Only just - not much airflow hence the water cooled option
  6. if you right click on your volume button (bottom right) select 'volume mixer'. You can allocate programs to different outputs and adjust volume individually Here is a better explanation if needed: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/b1d1acac-1f21-4d23-8d68-98964d67c2c7/assigning-an-application-to-different-sound-outputs?forum=w7itprogeneral
  7. In all honesty I just picked it because it looked better Is the 1600X a reasonable match for a 1080ti? (I'm looking to use a water-cooled 1080ti in the same build)
  8. that was just the first 1440p build that showed up on pcpartpicker
  9. Is there any specific reason for that? Like is it blindingly obvious and I just don't know? Thanks though
  10. Here is a parts list to get you started - you can swap components out for things that you prefer or are cheaper - then post the new list and somebody will likely review it for you https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XH2Pd6
  11. Hi all I'm doing a build in the Phanteks Evolv Shift - Which requires a Mini ITX motherboard Currently, I have a Ryzen 5 1600X - I can get this motherboard for about $365 https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/product/QKJkcf/asus-rog-strix-x370-i-gaming-mini-itx-am4-motherboard-rog-strix-x370-i-gaming Alternatively, I could get a Coffee Lake chip (Either the i3 8350K or the 8600K - $300 and $435 respectively) and this motherboard for about $385 https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/product/VRjWGX/asus-rog-strix-z370-i-gaming-mini-itx-lga1151-motherboard-strix-z370-i-gaming What are your thoughts on the value of each option? At the moment the only upgradeability on the AM4 is to the 1800X which isn't a huge improvement for gaming and light photoshop. Is the intel path with a large lineup of chips worht the upgrade for someone trying to get all the bang for the smallest amount of buck? Cheers
  12. Hi All I'm looking to purchase the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 HYBRID card. However, as I'm using a PHANTEKS EVOLV SHIFT, And already have the H55 AIO cooler from corsair installed, the gpu radiator needs to be 27mm high or less. I know that some other hybrid cards use h55 coolers, such as MSI's version - just wondering if anybody knows which cooler this card uses, or if it's a proprietary design - what height the radiator is? Many thanks!
  13. You can only use two of the hard drives tho... The M.2 slot disables 2 of 4 SATA ports
  14. Those were my thoughts too. Ok thanks for that - I'll get the slightly more powerful one and see how it goes
  15. If you take a look at the top link I posted, that card requires a 9pin connector. The lower one doesn't. Thanks tho
  16. Right. I have an HP Z400 It's kitted out with a Xeon W3550 at 3.06GHz, turbo to 3.2GHz. 4 / 8HT cores. I've got 9GB of 1333MHz ddr3 memory (3x2gb,3x1gb - triple channel CPU oh boy) At the moment it's got a Quadro 600 in it. This works fine for 'meh' games. I'm looking to play battlefield 1 (medium), and planetside 2 (at max). The PSU is a good quality 450W, with a 6pin connector. My point is - I want to put a 1050Ti inside it. Can anyone see (or know of) any problems that may arise? Since I have the 6pin connector i might go for this one: https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-windforce-oc-4gb-graphics-card/26164578 Rather than this one: https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-oc-4gb-graphics-card/26164589 Any tips or pointers would be appreciated. I plan to buy the card tonight if there aren't any dumb things I am missing Cheers <3
  17. Not really. You might possibly find a GTX 1060 that doesn't require it, but it will most likely be a cut-down version of the card. I'd say a 1050ti would be your best bet at this point.
  18. Nope. Also, did some checking and there are a few stories out on the web with people using 1050ti's with the same or similar mobos and they have not reported any problems, so you should be pretty safe EDIT: You may need to update drivers or whatever though
  19. That's almost definitely not true in any way. However, on the slightest chance that it is (Which it isn't), you will probably be able to return your card? Chat to the shop you're buying from about it.
  20. 350W is more than the 1050ti's recommended wattage, and the PSU is either an A-45GA or Z-45FP, both of which are reasonable quality PSU's built by ASUS themselves so it should all work fine Good thing you pointed it out tho - could've ended badly
  21. Yes it will be good enough. The difference for you will non-existant
  22. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2K9MTH Here you go. Now it's been adjusted for non-overclocking parts and has a 4k monitor
  23. If you aren't overclocking, use this instead https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Kb9MTH The 6700K is still there because it's cheaper than the 6700 atm, but the motherboard and cooler have gone down to a more reasonable price
  24. Oh so it's got a great reputation for high and stable overclocks then? I might use it myself in that case Thanks heaps
