Have you tested using a different monitor yet? the VGA light means , either its does not see the GPU or monitor.

Do you have any lights on the motherboard? a lot of nicer ones will have a few lights you can use for TS.

You can also check out MSI Dragon center, I believe it should have a tool in there to auto set fan speeds.

id go with a 1070 or 1060.
