  1. I think I'm starting to understand it a little better now. I think I'm in a better position to choose my new RAM. Thanks!
  2. I guess I should say what is the downside that I may be missing with this RAM "CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16"? Is there something I should know about this RAM that I could be overlooking because I don't know much about RAM? Something about Samsung die B E etc. stuff that I don't know anything about?
  3. Thanks. I feel dumb for saying that as I am interested in Blender but just as a hobby, and I enjoy overclocking and trying to get better render times, and I haven't gamed for a while but I might do again some time. I guess I would like RAM to be as good as possible for all situations. And even possibly upgrade later with another 2 of the same kind if necessary. I don't see many options at the places I look. Corsair seems to be the main one available. This is the serial number "CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16". Is there anything better for around the same price range?
  4. I have Ryzen 3700X and Crosshair VII Hero. An oversight when I started building, I didn't realize my memory wouldn't transfer over being DDR3. I need DDR4. Now I have started trying to figure out what is best and I'm not sure I know. I see one available "Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Black 32GB 3200 MHz AMD Ryzen Tuned DDR4 Memory Kit" with 16-18-18-36 memory timings. Is it a good choice? Or should I choose something else. Some help from someone who really understands this stuff would be great. Also I don't care so much about gaming, but I do care about Blender rendering if that makes any difference. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
  5. I have been looking into something like this. Don't know if this will fit on the 1080/1070 but maybe.
  6. I'm glad I found this site and asked as I wouldn't have known otherwise. I think I might get a 1080 now instead. Thanks again guys I really appreciate it.
  7. I'm not really very knowledgeable about computer hardware, but I did buy a family member a laptop for gaming and it had a great price and can play most games, even GTA V on lower settings. It was new and a "Lenovo B50 15.6" Gaming Laptop AMD A8-6410 Quad Core 2.4GHz Turbo 4GB RAM, 1TB" and got it on ebay for $365. Obviously that's not the best for $500, you should be able to get one even better for $500. I was very impressed with that one for the price though. I did upgrade the RAM in it also.
  8. Ok thanks all for the advice. I guess I can wait a little longer. I was kind of ready to buy now though and am not familiar with price drops on graphics cards so not sure how long it would take the retailer to lower the prices after such an announcement.
  9. Thank you guys for your replies. I have an older AMD card 7870 I think. I didn't really research properly all the technical stuff or know what G-Sync was. I don't really want to wait too long for another card or the price to come down on another (I don't know how long that would take), but I might just get a 970 for now and then upgrade to the 980ti later if the price comes down. I'm going to need to upgrade a few other parts like tower and PSU so it's going to get expensive. The 970 will still be a pretty good upgrade for me, so I think I will do that. I probably would have prefered AMD as I used them more often, but then this G-Sync thing made me think about using a Nvidia and it seems like the monitor has me committed to that now.
  10. The R9 390 seems better with more VRAM, and gets higher FPS in some videos, but the monitor has G-Sync. Should I get the GTX 970 and then just upgrade to SLI later? Is it worth it to make the choice solely on utilising the G-Sync? Or do you think it would be better to get the R9 390 and forget about the G-Sync? Thanks.
