  1. thanks for all the replys, i think i will be going with a GIGABYTE GA-Z170N-WIFI.
  2. Im looking at getting a i5 6600k and would want to have to ability to do a bit of overclocking, nothing extreme just maybe to 4.2 ghz or so. i was wondering if there are any small motherboards out there (micro ATX or mini ITX) that would be ale to handle a little overclocking? thanks
  3. Im not sure yet since im going to upgrade once i get a gtx 1080 and there are no benchmarks out yet
  4. I'm planning on upgrading my PC this summer and will be getting the new 1080 once it comes out, i will also be replacing my 1080p 60hz monitor for a new 1440p 144hz one. the only thing that im concerned about is the fact that i will most likely not be at a constant 144 fps while gaming and so i'm wondering if having FPS than the refresh rate will cause tearing like it does when the FPS is too high? the only other option i see is to shell out another $200 to get one with G-sync, tho i would prefer not to. thanks for any help
  5. I was trying to install and update through windows update and it would just keep freezing and I would need to shut down my laptop to stop it. i used windows update troubleshooting tool and it said "service registration missing or corrupt". I cant figure out what to do from here. any help is appreciated. thanks
  6. thanks guys i think im just going to wait to see if any thing comes out similar to the Acer XB270HU (144hz ips) but cheaper, ill invest just in a new gfx card this year. thanks again for all the help, i love the community here
  7. hey guys I currently have a 1080p 27" ips Benq gw2750hm and it has some of the best color and black levels i have ever seen, however i do notice a lot of ghosting and since iv had it for a few years i feel it is time to upgrade. iv been looking into some 1440p TN panels with free sync but the only thing stopping me is what iv heard about TN panels having bad color accuracy. so i was wondering what you guys think. is the color accuracy really that bad and does the higher resolution and refresh rate make up for it? any comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  8. So i got a new 1Tb hard drive to hold all my games, everything seemed fine until i realized that when i would play BF4 my character model would be missing and then the game would freeze and i would have to close it with task manager. i reinstalled it and it still wouldn't work so i installed it on my original hard drive (with my os) and the game ran fine. then the same happened when i got gta v. the screen would freeze and the same audio would keep looping, i noticed that my case has a light to show hdd activity and usually it is blinking but now it was staying lit. i installed it on my c drive like bf4 and now it works fine (but they also released a patch). now i downloaded the witcher 2 and the same thing is happening, it freezes and the light stays lit. i want to know if there is anyway to check the health of my hdd or anyone who has had the same problems. thank you for any help and sorry for the long post
  9. i figured it out, on my mobo (asus m5a99fx) there are two blue sata ports which i guess are for hard drives and the rest are white, i guess i was pluging it into the wrong one. Any ways i just need to format it now. thanks for all the help i really appreciate it.
  10. i did try to format it but the is absolutely no trace of it anywhere. and it is pluged into the sata port on my mobo
  11. i just got a second 1Tb hard drive and installed it but it is not showing up anywhere, not in my bios or disk manager. i used the power cable from my 1st hard drive and the sata from my cd player so i know they are both working. i can feel the drive spinning. i don't know what is wrong with it. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks. 12. Just wanted to know what games you will be playing this winter. i'm getting Farcry 4 and looking into Lords of the Fallen and maybe Assassins creed. so what about you?
  13. iv seen a lot of new games coming out having the recommended CPU be the fx-8350 and iv heard that since the new consoles have an 8 core CPU that games with start to take advantage of more cores. so do you think it would be worth the $170 to upgrade to help future proof it? Also do you think my fx-6300 is bottle-necking my current rig? My specs are: GPU- GIGABYTE WINDFORCE GHz edition 780 CPU-FX-6300 RAM- 8GB MOBO- ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 and an aftermarket air cooled heatsink(forgot the model). Thanks for any help guys
  14. Do you think it is worth it for me to upgrade my Gigabyte 780 windforce to a 980? i want to get the most out of upcoming games like Farcry4 and was wondering if this upgrade would make much difference for 1080p? Thanks for any help
  15. I'm to get my girlfriend in to gaming and was wondering if what would be some good games to play. The first game that we have played was Brothers:A Tale of Two Sons, she really liked it and said that she wanted me to show her some more games. I had her play some BF4 and Skyrim she has never played any games really before though and so she is pretty bad at precision aiming, but she is getting better and dose not get frustrated easily so here is some of what i'm looking for: -easy controls -not too long -puzzles -good story -pc/xbox 360 appreciate any suggestions, thanks
