  1. Well I do like the look of the MSI one too but if there's no significant difference between the two I'd rather go for the Gigabyte one since it's cheaper where I live. Thanks for the reply
  2. Thanks, I'll take a look over there for reviews.
  3. Simply just a brand preference or have you experienced any issues with MSI motherboards?
  4. Never seen anything like that but what I could suggest is try using different cables. If that doesn't work try connecting the monitor to a different device if you can and see if the problem persists (also try using different cables here). If you're still getting the black bars on different devices it could be an issue with the monitor. If it's only happening on your PC then it's probably an issue with one of your components, most likely your GPU. Hope this helps.
  5. I'm really confused at the moment. I'm going to be running an i5 4690K and I can't seem to figure out which of the above boards is better. In terms of quality, BIOS features, and overclocking which one should I go for? In terms of price the Gigabyte board is around $163 in my region and the MSI one is around $180. Also wanted to ask would any of the boards require a BIOS update right out of the box? Would there be any trade-offs if I selected on over the other?
  6. I went through the entire BIOS, I couldn't find anything called TurboCore feature I guess that will do, as long as I get 60+ FPS I'll be happy. Seems like we both helped each other out. Thank you.
  7. I seemed to kind of fix it. I went into the BIOS settings and found a "Cool & Quite" feature enabled. I disabled that and now I'm getting around 60-70 fps on ultra, I think that's about right not sure though. I also found a feature called "CPU Unlock" which was disabled. Should I enable that?
  8. nothing out of the ordinary for both the CPU and GPU.
  9. PC Partpicker list A little back story here would be, when I first built my PC a year ago, I had problems with what seemed like my CPU (AMD FX-8350) overheating. Whenever I would play a game for 5 minutes or so the PC would instantly power off. I ended up purchasing an aftermarket CPU cooler to fix the issue, which seemed to help. Fast-forward to a year later. I've been playing BF4 on 64 player servers with an EVGA 780 classified, but I've been noticing that I only get around the 40-50 fps range on high/ultra settings in 1080p. At first I thought it would be the GPU, so I ran a benchmark of Unigine Valley and the Metro LL benchmark, but my scores are pretty similar to others I found online. The next thing that came to mind was testing my CPU. Usually when my CPU is idle it's speed is only around 1.4Ghz-2.4Ghz when it should be 4Ghz (no OC), I don't know if it is normal for a CPU to have a slow speed when it's idle. I've been running Prime95 in small ffts for almost 2.5 hours and while nothing has failed yet, I keep noticing the CPU's core speed dropping to 3.4Ghz for a split second then it goes back to 4Ghz. Is that normal? Temps are fine so far since the test has been on for 2.5 hours and its at 46 C, so I doubt it's a thermal paste/cooler issue. My CPU is almost out of warranty so if someone could help me ASAP I would really appreciate it. Is it my CPU that seems to be faulty, could it still be the GPU or is there something else that could be wrong like the motherboard? A little extra info: I've rolled back my GPU drivers and I also tried doing a fresh install of the latest ones, but there's no change.

  11. Great! If I were to go for a new chassis that is spacious and has really good cable management what would you recommend? (I prefer having a window) P.S. Please don't recommend the Corsair Carbide 540, as much as I love that case I don't have enough room for it
  12. I'm already using a second screen which has a resolution of (1400 x 900), it isn't great I know, but if I want to get a screen I'd go for 1440p which isn't really cheap in my country and I'm most probably going to need a better GPU for that.
  13. Seems reasonable. Are there any details on the release date though?
  14. You have a point there, but seems like many people are recommending I wait for Maxwell.
  15. Title says it all, I'm looking to upgrade my PC but I'm not sure what I should upgrade. Here are my current specs http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Pr3h. Couldn't find my chassis on the site, so if anyone is interested it's a CoolerMaster K380. Also something I did not include in the specs was my keyboard, which is one of those standard Microsoft keyboards, and a secondary Acer monitor (1400 x 900). What do you guys think I should upgrade in my build, should I go for a 780ti or is it not worth it considering I'm gaming at 1080p?
