  1. The ZBOX would be a perfect way of getting my girlfriend and her family into PCs!! Mid and full sized PCs are claimed to be too large for their home. This would be great for their living room HDTV for gaming and some web browsing than an unusable Windows XP laptop and an iPad.
  2. I regularly use two PS3 DS3 controllers via bluetooth. Also, I do not use motioninjoy if you know what that is. While it is unclear which bluetooth adapters are compatible (mostly trial and error, there is a list somewhere with known working ones) yours might be able to work. I kind of forget the exact process I used to get it to work, but this youtube video is a similar process. Once you get it to work, however, your bluetooth adapter can only be used for the PS3 controllers.
  3. 10 years old, currently 21. It was a prebuilt, Dell Dimension 8400. I didn't do too much, just replace PSU and harddrive. Second computer I tinkered with was 3 years later and still works to this day! Dell Inspiron 518 with an Intel E7300 2.66 ghz. About to give it my old 650 Ti boost after upgrading to EVGA GTX 970 SSC.
  4. Thanks! I actually got hackintosh to work on my AMD FX 8350 with the 650 ti boost to work on my Gigabyte motherboard. It was missing a lot of features and so I decided it wasn't really worth using it. :\
  5. Yep! I'm upgrading my 650 Ti Boost in my current build to the ASUS Strix GTX970. Would my corsair 500w be enough to power it? As for the 650 Ti Boost, I want to place in a new computer.
  6. Haha, was afraid about that. Okay I edit it in a few min. It's just I've been so conflicted for the past two weeks and I was just jotting random things down while writing it. Edited, sorry about that. Hopefully a little more legible.
  7. Hey guys, tl;dr First time poster, 2 year LinusTech viewer. I'm looking to upgrade to the latest ASUS Strix GTX970 GPU from the 650 Ti Boost in the coming days, (or months) depending on how long it will take to plan in order to output to a 2560x1080 monitor for gaming and productivity (primarily). Then I want to make a second PC (maybe experiment with some hackintosh?) using the 650 Ti Boost. How should I go about doing this? I currently have my self built computer from over a little more than a year ago: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/PwnQzy 1. Budget / Location I am looking to build a fairly powerful secondary computer for its price, but I would really prefer making my primary computer powerful (FX-8350). Trying to keep the price under $700 with an SSD (excluding OS, monitor, and the Strix 970 GPU of my primary computer). Don't forget I will be putting the old 650 Ti BOOST in the second computer. 2. Aim This computer will be used for gaming for my brother 1080p such as NBA 2k14 as well as random tasks. I will also tinker with some hackintosh so an Intel processor would be preferred, but not necessity. Hackintosh compatibility is not a deal breaker. While I am pleased with the performance of my first built computer, I built it with budget in mind. Something I've noticed this past year while browsing reddit buildapcsales and random tweets, the price of powerful parts have gone down hard and fast. For me, SSDs and high performance graphics cards really caught my eye. This was my first self built PC and in it I have the AMD FX 8350 on Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 ATX AM3+, EVGA 650 Ti Boost, and Samsung 840 SSD. Nit-picky things: The motherboard does NOT have USB 3.0 support. It also seems to bottle neck because of the boot screen logo takes around 7 seconds before even getting to the Windows Screen. The color of the board is also blinding. The GPU is a fair loud along with the assortment of fans inside. And the original NOT EVO Samsung 840 SSD is sub par performance when I compare it to my family's computers I built with EVO or PRO SSDs. I partially wouldn't even mind trying to get another FX-8350 because of recent price drops/sales and also upgrading my mobo. The looks on the second computer won't matter to me as much, but in my primary computer, the blue mobo I have lacks USB 3 and other things. Maybe I could just get another FX AM3+ mobo for myself and use the old one for the new computer? mATX would be cool as well if possible. Would I have to upgrade my current PSU in my PC for the Strix 970? 3. Monitors 2560x1080 monitor - Looked at the AOC 29 inch Q2963 for a over a year. Amazon prime eligible and all the reviews look good with a nice price tag. If any recommendations, let me know. 4. Peripherals Have. 5. Why are you upgrading? In the end, having a bigger monitor may have no real means because there is probably some law of diminishing returns with productivity or something. I really just think it's cool and I want to tinker with the innards of my computer and having a powerful CPU. If there is any confusion in my post, let me know. Thanks for reading and for your help!
