  1. True, but it me as I would have two rigs to upgrade, and the rig would not be anywhere near as powerful as my main rig. The TV can run at 120hz at 1440p with my rtx 2080. I'd ideally like to take advantage of that, which would mean a very expensive rig. This way, I save some dosh, and get to upgrade two rigs at once, if you imagine the cables represent an htpc.
  2. Hi all. I'm considering upgrading my rev b O2 odac to a JDS Labs Element 2. Just curious if there is likely to be any improvement in overall sound quality. If not, I probably won't bother. My typical headphones are Sennheiser 58x Jubilees and Beyerdynamic dt770 80 ohms
  3. Thank for all the input all. I haven't sorted out my HDMI connection yet, but i did end up purchasing the Monoprice fiber optic cable. I've been testing out the wired and wireless controller performance on some very twitchy games (Dark Souls 3 and Super Meat Boy predominantly) with the controller and wireless receiver plugged into the 20m cable. No issues to report, works brilliantly.
  4. I'm in a similar situation atm. I am considering routing optical USB and HDMI cables from my pc in my study to the TV in my living room. Linus has given some good impressions for the Corning Optical USB 3 cable as a method of transmitting data over significant distances. For me in Australia, it would be about twice as much as a shield TV, but significantly less than building an HTPC to that spec. Though I'm considering this option since I have a TV that supports G-Sync. Other than that, I've been using a Steamlink for a long time over a wired connection, and have had no issues. By all accounts, using the Steamlinkn app on a Shield TV would be a very similar experience.
  5. Hi all I am considering upgrading my audio solution for my PC. I am currently using an O2-ODAC Rev B from Mayflower, and am really enjoying it. But i am aware that it's an older product, and there are some new devices that I am considering. I've been seeing a lot of praise for the Monoprice THX AAA desktop amp and DAC combo, and am very curious about it. However, are there any other options really worth considering in this price bracket? Or would an upgrade from the ODAC even be worth it? Ideally I am looking for a single unit for connecting headphones and powered speakers, and being able to switch between them. Thanks a heap all
  6. Thanks for the input on this one. The distance is likely to be 15-20 metres, so between 49-66'.
  7. Hi all I'm building my new home, and am looking at connecting my pc in my study to my TV in my living room. I'm planning on doing this by using optical USB and HDMI and routing them through the ceiling and walls, so I can pc game. The optical HDMI will plug into the TV from the PC, and the optical USB cable will plug into a powered hub for controllers and my lapboard. Has anyone else had experience with a setup like this? And to be clear, I know that a Shield TV is an option, but I can't take advantage of gsync on my LG OLED using that method. Hence this plan USB https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=16377 HDMI https://www.avaustralia.com.au/ruipro-8k-60hz-48gbps-hdmi-fibre-optic-cable-1-50m/
  8. Hi all I'm considering modding the Enthoo Evolv TG (not the X variant) to add USB C. I was considering adding it to the front panel IO by cutting through the plastic and PCB in between the USB A ports. It appears that the PCB on this section is blank, and does not house any circuitry. Has anyone in the forum had a crack at doing this mod on this or a similar case?
  9. Awesome, thankyou guys. Wasn't sure where the aluminium ended and the steel started. Really appreciate the help,
  10. Hi all I'm looking at adding RGB strips into my system, and am looking at the Cablemod Widebeam RGB strips. My only concern is that my case, the Enthoo Evolv TG ATX is aluminium and steel. Wondering if anyone has had good success adding magnetic strips to the top, side and bottom of the Enthoo Evolv TG's internals? Thanks all
  11. Hi all Any idea if there is going to be another run of the Linus Edition Noctua Fans, or have any NF-A14 linus fans spare? Lookiong at replacing the current fans with Noctua fans for silence, but I can't use the Industriual Edition fans (or more don't want to) as they cant be used with the low noise adapters and can't have the fans spinning too fast. My rig is used for live music recording so silence is an absolute neccessity, and would really like the good looking and silent fans without needing to resort to a fan controller. If I'm SOL, then oh well, but it would be perfect
  12. My monitors refresh rate is 60. I've checked this to make sure that it hadn't been set to something strange. Thankyou for the input. I am quite sure that this isn't tearing, though I'm not claiming to be 100% certain(wouldn't be here otherwise ). I do sometimes experience tearing when not on V sync, as you described, however this does not appear to be that. The image itself appears to look and feel considerably less smooth. This is also something that I'm sure my setup did not use to do.
  13. The 'stuttering' appears to occur in all games i'm playing so far.
  14. Hi All, I'm looking for some help. I've noticed a bit of an issue with my setup. Lately I've been finding that my gaming experience has not been very smooth. I've been experiencing some stutter when I'm gaming at over 60fps. With V sync on everything is lovely, but when I turn V sync off and the framerates go up, things become much rougher (tested with FRAPS). This seems to happen in all my games, and it doesn't seem to be a driver issue with the GPU. Has anyone come across this before, could this be a problem with my display? Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance guys. Setup GPU: EVGA 980 ti ACX 2.0 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X UD3H CPU: Intel I7 4770k RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB Hard Drive: WD Black 2TB Monitor: Asus PB278q Keyboard: Logitech G710+ Mouse: G502 Proteus Core Audio Output: Mayflower O2 ODAC
  15. Found the problem. It must have been a bug with the sound card driver. When i installed the newest update, the louder pci-e slot system memory jumped from 50% to 70%. Since I have the Xonar driver controlling the system settings, it must have been reporting the wrong volume outputs between the pci-e slots. everything seems to be fixed. Thanks for the help guys. Sound card drivers causing problems, wow. That never happens now does it
