  1. Holy Moly! Can't believe it's been 10 years, crazy you're a floatplane engineer now Colonel! Congrats I feel I nearly owe my career to this forum and LTT as a whole ngl
  2. True, True, however living in France I don't think Framework have international keyboards yet sadly. So a French one (normally azerty) won't be an option, which is something OP should consider.
  3. The framework might be out of your budget, but if you're looking for repairability might be the best option. Macbook Air could be a solid choice as you've said. Also a big fan of Lenovo myself, so a Flex or Yoga might be a good shout for you?
  4. Feel like such an idiot, but I've been watching ltt videos as soon as I see them for years but I still haven't been getting the memo for these drops!!?? What happens how do people know where to go, what happened in the last two drops??!! Edit: OK so after reading this thread it seems that the segment of the video is taken out and link removed. This makes a lot of sense as to why I Was bamboozled. Been a pretty hectic couple months at work. I'm likely never going to manage this. Oh well good luck everyone!!!
  5. Really struggling with this for some reason. Raspberry Pi Zero is ARM 32-bit right?

  7. Hi all, Got the classic first world problem of audiofiles where I've got too many headphones now and they just kinda get put in a pile when I'm not using them. Any cool ideas/products on how/where/what to store them/hang them etc. would quite like to keep them relatively easy to grab though as I switch between them a lot. Any suggestions welcome. Cheers, Sam
  8. Sony Xperia 5 ii Samsung Galaxy s20 FE 5g Google Pixel 4a 5g These are the three I'm deciding between lol
  9. Well, good for you. I and many others have issues with it.
  10. Hi all, Looking for a new laptop. Atm I'm using a Lenovo Y50-70 for reference. To be honest if the Asus Zephyrus G14 had a webcam it would be perfect for me. I have a proper gaming/editing desktop. So the things I'm looking for are portability and if I head to a mates I can play some lan games with them and if I'm stuck in train station or whatever I can do some video editing if need be. But having a webcam is a must, especially atm with how the world is right now. Hopefully something with a Ryzen 7 and a half decent dedicated nvidia card for video conversion with HVEC etc. The new Mobile Ryzen processors look so good for the money. But if its Intel not a huge problem. Budget from about £700-£1200 lower the better ofc. Cheers, Sam
  11. I recently upgraded to double the speed for the same price of £23 a month (Plusnet in case your wondering) Still no fibre in my area though sadly so upload is a bit rubbish! Usually 75, my flatmate must be watching some Netflix or something.
  12. Yes I know you can set a target framerate of 24, 30 and 60 fps but it does fluctuate on iPhones and lots of other smartphones too. Don't think you quite understand, have a read of below: https://momofilmfest.com/smartphone-iphone-filmmaking-what-is-variable-frame-rate-vfr/ This means with lots of non linear editing software you have to first convert it to a constant framerate, this adds an extra step to the process. Premiere Pro does a good job of not caring about it. But other ones like Davinci Resolve are much more picky.
  13. Variable framerates are just a pain with NLEs. I've always had issues with them and it's well documented on the davinci forums that it's a known problem.
  14. Only annoying this about iPhone is it shoots video in a variable framerate which my Video Editor of Choice (Davinci Resolve) doesn't automatically work with. Needs a constant framerate. Which means I'd have to convert all the rushes first and then import them to Davinci, not sure I can be bothered with that... Also I asked for Android suggestions, I'm not going to buy an iPhone, sorry.
  15. Hey here's a list of random stuff people may or may not of heard of that I use: Sideload GCam if you've got an American model with a Qualcomm chip in it. https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/google-camera-mods/google-camera-urnyx05-t3937515 Adds the Pixel camera app effectively! I've been a little obsessed with an app called Remini recently. AI upscales faces in photos. Works crazily well! Snapseed is good for general photo editing. (Made by google) Web Video Caster Waze - GPS for your car - prefer it to google maps Samsung Health is actually pretty decent Podcast Addict Oculus for streaming my VR headset to my phone for people to watch Money Dashboard for budgeting Google Lens Firefox (My browser of choice) Dolby on for audio recording Auto-blur - puts bokeh on photos that don't have it already. You probably don't need this though. I have a rather old phone at this point. Colorize - AI adds colour to black and white photos/
  16. Hi all, I'm looking for a new Android phone but struggling to find something quite right. I'm in the UK and my budget atm is about £370 but willing to go up if needed. My priorities are it has to be Android, good camera in both photos and videos, Decent amount of storage (At least 128gb or has expandability with microSD), if possible a Qualcomm CPU to use the GCam app (Harder to find in the UK than you'd think) Nice to haves would be a headphone jack and 5G. At the moment I'm thinking the Pixel 4a, Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite or OnePlus Nord. But I'm wondering if I should wait out for a Pixel 4a 5G? Just for reference I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S9. Of course as I'm in Europe it has a cruddy Exynos Chip.... Any suggestions welcome though :) Cheers, Sam
  17. Ah cheers man! Loving this
  18. I will calibrate it. I work in the film industry as an engineer lol. I understand, in a perfect world I'd take the Sony BVM-X300 home from work, calibrate it and only use it in a completely dark room lol If there's anything with a bigger budget (perhaps £300 - £450) you'd recommend, any suggestions would be appreciated. It's not properly colour critical I just don't want a yucky TN panel if I'm doing some editing work on it.
  19. Funnily enough though as someone that works in the VFX industry. Most of the content we finalise for our clients as of the moment are all 2K. Meaning most the 4K Blu-Ray releases are being up-scaled.
  20. Hi guys! Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me for a new monitor. I'm looking for an IPS panel as I do some colour critical work on it. But I'd also like a relatively high refresh rate as I also game on it. Probably over 120hz and looking for a sub 5ms responce time. The real kicker is finding something like this for around £200 ? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Sam
  21. Hello there old friends and new friends to come, I made my first build in 2012, with the help of the Linus and other Youtubers back in the day. Well Sasha's getting a bit outdated ? and I'd quite like to plan a new build. I've recently acquired a Fractal Design Arc Mini (MicroATX) case. I'd like to slowly but surely fill it with parts over the next few pay checks lol. Can't believe how old I am now. But that's a little side note. So ATM I've got this setup: CPU Intel Core i5-3570K Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP RAM Corsair XMS3 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 GPU MSI GeForce GTX 660 Ti Power Edition 2GB Case Antec Three Hundred Two Storage Kingston SSD Now 300 240GB + Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive PSU OCZ ZT 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply Display(s) Asus ProArt PA238Q and an Acer K222HQL Cooling Stock... I know I'm a terrible person XD Keyboard Ducky One TKL ( Cherry MX Browns with RGB) + IBM Model M Mouse Coolermaster CM Storm Xornet II Sound Audio Technica ATH-M50 + Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD + Logitech X-140 Speakers + Audio-Technica AT2020 Mic Operating System Windows 10 I'm going to be keeping Storage, PSU, Displays, Peripherals etc. The plan is to be buying old used stuff that's a couple generations behind but good specs! For example I was thinking for GPU of getting a 980ti on eBay etc. I'd love some suggestions for firstly what spec I really need to do VR but a couple generations behind. TLDR read is. Would love suggestions for old stuff for VR that's decent for: Motherboard (Has to be MicroATX) CPU GPU RAM (at least 16gb) PC partpicker links for the UK would be useful Sorry for long post, Here's a tech potato:
