I bought the Zxr soundcard from Creative and it's been giving me strange audio issues. I was wondering if any of you would be able to help me out, seeing as creative have the WORST customer support I have ever encountered. First, with the Audio Control Module (Hence ACM), I can't seem to get the onboard microphone working. Not sure if I need a driver or tweak some settings, but it doesn't work. The headphone volume slider does work and is functional. Second, I cannot seem to download the Sound Blaster Axx software that controls the features that the soundcard brings? I'm getting with some really weird audio glitches that seem to basically take a shit on my audio quality. I'm a song producer so I really need my audio quality good. Not sure if it's an equalizer thing from the soundcard, but in any case, I don't have the fucking software to change it, as it has never been hinted to. As a result, when listening to particularly electronic music, a really muffled and mid range dominated audio is produced. Strange, considering the sound from my phone is much clearer. If anyone of you can send me to a download site for this software it would be amazing. Not sure if I'm allowed to post youtube links here, but the software looks something like what this guy uses - Anywho, some help would really be appreciated.

Oh yes - error 99 is an IO Initialisation problem but does anyone know how to fix this?

Just tried it now, I now get an AE-A2 error with an orange led lit up next to my power supply with the words boot next to it? Fast responses would be great guys, seeing as I'm shitting myself.

PC Build - Asus Maximus Hero VIII, 32gb HyperX Fury 2400mHz ram, i7-6700k, gtx 970 evga edition, evga 1000w power suppy, ZxR sound card from creative, WD Blue 3tb drive. My PC doesn't seem to boot and when turning on all fans of the components turn on but the error reader on my mob goes through a sequence of different numbers. the numbers halt at error code 99, then go to AE, and then I'm always too scared to let the PC keep running so I just turn it off. I receive no output on my monitor ( I have only connected an HDMI cable from the mobo to the monitor) and says it doesn't detect any HDMI signal? Help????

I, with an extreme dispassion, HATE external amps.

On a sound note, how is the sound card and do you notice any tangible audio quality improvements compared to your onboard audio? The reason I want the sound card (apart from gaming) is to A) run my headphones (I hate external amps) and B) have somewhat better audio than my integrated motherboard audio. My motherboard is an ASUS HERO VIII.

If I could get some VERY quick responses to this thread, that would be great. The Creative Labs ZxR Is a sound card I will be implementing into my build VERY soon (in the next hour or so). I wanted to know if its included 600 ohms amp is enough to drive HD650s from Sennheiser at an impedance of around 300 ohms. I'm new to the whole amp thing, so is this included amp, FOR THIS SOUNDCARD, enough for now?

Thanks man! About the ear cushions: do they make your ears "sweat" after prolonged used (like a hotspot) and do they actually cushion? I've had a bad experience with some Momentum 2.0 from Sennheiser and they hurt my ears a ton. Are these very comfortable?

Hey audiophiles! Could I have an honest review/comparison of these two headphones: 1. V-Moda 100m 2. Oppo PM-3 for the sub-$400 price range. I am a intermediate/amateur music producer who wants stellar sound quality, but with no artificial boost to any of the frequency range (especially the highs and lows, which have a tendency to be unnecessarily boosted for a wider and more distorted sound). Which headphone should I get for my ~$400 headphone? Thanks for your help!

Sorry for the late replies, and thank you for all of the suggestions! Something I didn't address in my OP was that I do game. I play low intensity games like League of Legends and CS:GO but also plan on playing Fallout 4, Star Wars: Battlefront among other thing, perhaps at medium to high settings. Thats why I do prefer having a decent graphics card, such as the 970. The 390 is nice (better performance for one), but the power consumption really can't sway me. As for my storage, I have around 2TB of prior data to move onto this new rig (I'll be setting up a family NAS in the coming year, we have around 15TB shared between 6 people on different devices), which is why I will need the 3TB drive. The SSD was purely for a faster boot time with Windows 10 and a much easier accessible route to my external applications which I'll need for music production. Downgrading the monitor and keyboard: this may prove to be where I choose to cut back on some money. I feel that your suggestions are truly helping me understand the compromises I am going to make. Thanks all posters for your help, it means a lot!

Ironically, I chose the 970 over the 390 because of its power saving qualities - electricity bills will be going up soon so I'd prefer to stick with the 970.
