  1. I'm looking to build the smallest rig I can in the summer. I'll be using the Fractal s24 cooler in my current rig - what's the smallest case that will support this? My initial thoughts are among the Corsair 250D and similar cases from Caselabs. Preferably I'd want to spend about $100 however I'm willing to go to $180 if the size difference is significant enough for it to be worth it. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 1800X Cooler: Fractal Kelvin S24 GPU: 1080ti FE (/a similar blower card) Storage: 1 2.5" SSD, 1 3.5" HDD PSU: Currently 180mm however willing to downsize
  2. Looked into it and I can easily go for x99 at the sacrifice of one of the 1080's and I will follow through in doing hat. Thank you for your help.
  3. Got it really cheap, and it's running heavily underclocked - not going to fry my mobo.. yet ::)
  4. Thank you for attaching the review. I'm currently still on AM3+, with the FX9590 (Don't ever go there, it was a b**** to get running) so right now I'm looking to buy the best for my budget.
  5. Currently I have a pretty default 1080p monitor, however I'm looking into getting my hands on either a 4K display or a 2K ultrawide.
  6. Okay, x99 it is, I didn't realise just how much faster it would be
  7. Thank you for the reply, I'm definitely going to go for an 850W PSU. Also, what stops you from going to the x99 platform? I'm hesitant because of price and I don't really see a huge difference over the 67/7700k (considering that I would only be able to get the 6800/6850k.)
  8. Alright, I'm going to jump over to pcpartpicker and see if it's possible price wise - thank you for your help
  9. Is x99 really that much better, price to performance wise? I'd only be able to afford a 6800k possibly the 6850k.
  10. I just need the VRAM for octane and after effects - I am fully aware of how overkill it is on a gaming front considering I have a 1080p 60Hz monitor :') I was looking into x99, however it just seems to be going so expensive right now Yes. Will do
  11. Building a high end system for video editing, CAD, 3D and some light gaming. Here's my list so far, I'm looking to spend a maximum of £2600/700: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£319.50 @ Aria PC) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£107.50 @ Aria PC) Motherboard: Asus STRIX Z270G Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£179.00 @ More Computers) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (£171.26 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Samsung 960 Evo 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (£130.97 @ BT Shop) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW DT GAMING Video Card (2-Way SLI) (£649.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW DT GAMING Video Card (2-Way SLI) (£649.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk) Case: Corsair Air 240 MicroATX Mid Tower Case (£86.97 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Corsair 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£110.38 @ Amazon UK) Total: £2405.56 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-02-05 22:26 GMT+0000 I am going to be overclocking. (hence the watercooler and the 215W TDP GPU's) What are your thoughts on this?
  12. I've just come back from a two-week vacation and I am completely stumped by constant stuttering. I've had this system for around 3 years and suddenly any audio/visual processes are producing worryingly large lag spikes and are even present while simply watching youtube and listening to spotify (Audio lags). I've narrowed it down to either the CPU or GPU, as RAM intensive tasks do not cause any problems - I came to a similar conclusion when looking into storage issues. Any ideas? Is it worth re-seating my CPU? And could it just be the sheer age of my components? Thank you in advance
  13. To say the least, BT is a complete joke For those unaware BT market themselves as the "best" internet provider within the United Kingdom yet provide appalling service and clueless call centers. I'm paying for 35 down and 10 up, which compared to a lot of people, is actually quite pathetic. As if that's bad enough, for the past 3 days I've been getting under 1 MBPS download speeds. Here's a speed test I did 5 minutes ago: I think it's quite entertaining, actually, I call the helpline to be presented with a complete moron who was completely clueless, kinda funny! Anyone else had a similar experience?
  14. Not sure the 5820K is best suited for gaming - better off to buy a 6600k/6700k for the updated architecture. The 5820k will easily be outperformed by the 6700k in a gaming environment.
  15. As previously mentioned the difference between the two is just clock rate and hyperthreading - which is completely irrelevant unless you're running render engines such as Cinema4D or similar. For gaming and photo/video editing (Making the assumption you're not doing 3D renders) just stick with the i5
