  1. I asked about shipping cost on a second shipment as at least two would be required to get a brush and heads while still getting the introductory discount. They stated that all shipments are free, that combined with the pricing available on the US site and the refund policy means that this issue has been resolved to a moderate degree of acceptability. Ideally it would be possible to purchase refills at launch knowing the exact price, but as it is now I'm okay with things.
  2. Got a link? I can't find it. Edit: I found it through google, it's not on the Canadian site though. On the US site is it simultaneously in stock and sold out.
  3. Laifen does not sell replacement heads for their toothbrushes, when contacted about this they said that they will be available for sale "soon" when asked for a price they ghosted me. Selling a product with proprietary consumables that are not available, have no clear timeline for availability, and not disclosing price of said necessary consumable is not okay. Edit: They got back to me:
  4. Regarding the recent plex sponsorship. I am a happy user of plex and lifetime subscriber. I feel that the behaviour of plex in presenting the following: https://www.plex.tv/blog/pro-week-day-1-linus/ Without disclosing on that page or in the relevant newsletter email, that they paid for services from Linus. Is distasteful at best. When watching LTT and its associated channels I am used to and greatly appreciate the complete, explicit, and unmissable, transparency whenever there is money involved. Having this missing in this context makes me uncomfortable and unhappy, while it may not be legally or even morally required that they provide this transparency, it would still be appreciated and its absence is unpleasant. I would appreciate it, if going forward, if any company pays LMG for something, that LMG requires that they provide significantly more transparency on their end should they do something like what plex is doing.
  5. TL;DR Is going above 3000 16 memory going to have a significant performance boost for software encoding on a 2700x? I wanted to wait until the next generation of Ryzen so that the 3700x would drop to levels akin to the 2700x now, but considering I don't know when that happens, that I would prefer to get back into streaming in under 60 days and the possibility of long term parts shortages looming I am strongly considering pulling the trigger now. Location: Canada Budget: Under 500 preferred but willing to go to 700ish for significant gains. Use: This PC will be used almost exclusively for OBS to software encode a 4k60 output at 1080p60 medium (right now I am going to stick to a 1080p output, but I want to be ready for 4k) and hardware encode recordings with NVENC. While doing this I would like to be able to do some very basic web browsing, stream management, and A/V playback (to go with the stream). It will be connecting using NDI instead of a capture card, I have tested this extensively without issue. Display: 2x or 3x 1440*900 with a matrox splitter (basically a 2880*900 or 4320*900 display). Peripherals: None, going to use software KVM. Reason for upgrade: Current streaming PC is a i5 3470, it simply cannot handle this. Justification for not using a 1660 with NVENC, software encoding at medium with the proper tweaks has the upper hand over NVENC by at least a small amount. The PsU in my i5 is not easily upgradable and I don't want to stress it with a 1600. Also, if I do this build over a video card upgrade I get to use the i5 as a media center PC. Parts List and justifications: PCPartPicker Part List: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QfrDn7 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor ($214.00 @ Canada Computers) This CPU is the best bang for the buck and should easily be able to handle the workload. Cooler: Stock, it is quiet enough and I won't be overclocking as I read that there is limited benefit to doing that with the 2700x. Motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($79.99 @ Canada Computers) Cheapest of the B450 boards, I chose B450 for no particular reason. Memory: Patriot Viper 4 Blackout 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($55.99 @ Amazon Canada) This was the cheapest 3000 16 memory, going higher frequency and lower latency might be beneficial but I am unsure. I see no reason to worry about upgrades to higher capacity. Storage: Western Digital Blue 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($84.99 @ Canada Computers) I will be recording directly to this drive, I want something that boots quickly, doesn't involve unsightly cables and has the storage I need. Recordings will be transferred to external drives daily. Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 2 GB Video Card I have this card, it can do everything I need it to. Case: Cougar MX330-G ATX Mid Tower Case ($54.99 @ Canada Computers) Cheap, glass side panel, magnetic filters. Power Supply, I will be using an old 600 watt PSU I have, it was a very high quality unit which I have an emotional attachment to and should be able to do the job. OS: Windows 10. Case fans. I have some very cheap and case fans bought from aliexpress a while ago, they should more than enough for cooling this, especially since the GPU will not be under load. Total: $489.96 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-02-28 15:04 EST-0500 https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QfrDn7
  6. When I plug my SSD into my adapter and the adapter into my botherboard, both the BIOS/UEFI and Windows 10 64 bit fail to detect it. The adapter manufacturer says that I may need SSD drivers but Western Digital doesn't seem to have any on their site. What do I do? 7. I never once suggested or thought that geeks3d is not legitimate. For someone that complains about the reading comprehension of others you seem pretty terrible at it. > There's absolutely nothing wrong with what MSI is doing. That is a matter of opinion. > Several companies have done it before, No major PC HW vendors that I am aware of have done this. Someone said that ASUS has done it, but that was debunked earlier. Do you have any examples or are you just making stuff up? > Its already been established that you're just upset that the link wasn't right there in your face. That is only part of why I am annoyed (upset is an overly strong word for what I am feeling). The bigger part is that there is a second download link that is not for the software in question, it is more prominently featured than the software people are visiting that page for and could be easily mistaken as the intended download link (it is under a heading that looks just like the feature headings for MSI Afterburner. As others have stated, this is the kind of stuff that is pulled on software piracy sites, not on the sites of major corporations. It really sounds to me like you are just stretching to find things wrong with what I am saying.
  8. Sorry, I am just so amused about you criticizing my reading comprehension and you seemingly failing at just that as well.
  9. Asus having a version of "Kombustor" has nothing to do with this at all, that is not an issue I have brought up. Sorry about the shady quote thing, my bad.
  10. Okay, that is actually pretty cool. Might have been nice if they had explained that on the site for MSI Afterburner. But, if it is an MSI product why does the download link lead to geeks3d.com?
  11. Well kind of, yes, other companies, like Asus, can do a decent job of making their download link easy to find and impossible to mistake for another program.
  12. The website for Asus GPU Tweak has the download link for GPU Tweak at the top of the page and has no other download links, has this been different in the past? If so, when? I would like to see using an archive!
  13. At no point did I say that Kombustor was shady. I said that the practice of tricking people into downloading something they don't intend to is shady. Then why is the link to geeks32.com a domain registered to a different company? How is it not? It is clearly deceptive, why is the first download link on the page for MSI afterburner for something other than MSI afterburner? It appears to be simply reskinned furmark, thus not made by MSI, as for being used with MSI afterburner, I can use any software with MSI Afterburner that doesn't make what they are doing okay.
  14. I am both disappointed and slightly surprised to find that when I visit https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner there are multiple neigh identically formatted download links, the first one on the page is for an seemingly unrelated benchmarking software provided by what appears to be a third party, the correct download link is much further down the page. It is clear that the link is clearly intended to be disguised as the download link for MSI afterburner. I didn't fall for this deceptive link but if I had, I would not be surprised if MSI got paid for directing traffic to that third party. This marketing practice is contemptible and frustrating for less initiated users. It is unexpected on the website of such a reputable corporation, with good reason, using this tactic makes you look shady and untrustworthy, not a look that I imagine MSI wants to cultivate amongst its target demographic. However, by doing this, that is the exact look they are cultivating. MSI you just got ranked down on my list of recommended companies. Congratulations! I wonder how many other people you have annoyed, probably not enough to verifiably affect your sales, which is unfortunate, because you deserve a small dip in sales. Below you will find screenshots of the page and a description of why I believe that MSI is being deliberately deceptive. In this image you see the very top of the page: In this next image you see part of the setup for the deceptive link. These are clearly features of the MSI Afterburner program: Next is the deceptive download link, it is encountered after pressing spacebar or page down 6 times on a 1080P display (7 times on 720p). If a user is only reading the headings they could be forgiven for assuming that "KOMBUSTER BENCHMARKING" is a feature of MSI Afterburner and that the download link is for MSI Afterburner. The correct download link is only visible after scrolling 2 more times (3 on 720P). If MSI wants to avoid looking shady and untrustworthy, this is where the previous download link should be placed.
  15. Super Time is advertising on Facebook using lmg footage. $70 for a 35 inch curved ultra wide display!
  16. Yep, me too, I won't even be able to afford a used one of these in 3 years.
  17. https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/lg-gram-17-gram-2-in-1 I want this thing so much, I love watching movies on my laptop and a bigger screen would be welcome! Also notable is the 2560x1600 display, 72wh battery, and Thunderbolt 3
  18. EDIT: As pointed out by a commenter below, the test is invalid. One of my favorite small youtubers did a video testing the importance of thermal paste. Turns out that, at least in this scenario, it is not very important! I want to see more tests!
  19. https://hackaday.com/2018/11/30/extreme-pi-overclocking-with-mineral-oil/ "Liquid cooling is a popular way to get a bit of extra performance out of your computer. Usually this is done in desktops, where a special heat sink with copper tubing is glued to the CPU, and the copper tubes are plumbed to a radiator." Glue and copper tubing are both optional and usually not involved at all. Also, the tubing is seldom if ever in contact with the CPU. Boy is this painful to read.
  20. I've heard this said before, but never by someone from LMG, got any confirmation of this?
