  1. Update 2: Very interesting discovery. When I enable DMZ, the port opens just fine UNTIL I actually try to join the server in Minecraft. The port will stay open indefinitely up until the moment I actually try and join the server. This is very confusing to me. I'm still considering some firewall issue, but I just can't image what it could be.
  2. Update 1: So after some more investigation I've found a some things: 1. My pihole is likely not related to this issue 2. I'm not convinced this is a firewall issue, because this machine runs on Ubuntu which doesn't even have a firewall on by default (but I did try enabling it and allowing the necessary ports anyway which still didn't work) 3. When checking the port on a port checking website, the connection times out rather than simply being blocked or refused. This seems important. 4. When I enable DMZ host on my router for that machine, the port then (and only then) becomes accessible. Obviously not a solution, but it seems telling. 5. I've found that when people ask about the timing out error on other forums they often allude to them having gotten a new router recently which is the case for me. This also seems important. I don't really know how to put these pieces together. All the information I've found is either inconclusive or doesn't really address my issue.
  3. I know the server has a static IP, and I've even used it before for Minecraft specifically. I port forwarded the same way I do for everything else. I guess I need to check firewall settings or something to see whats up. To the best of my memory, before I added pihole everything worked fine, so I'll look there first. I wasn't aware that public IPs were identical for the machines on a local network, although in retrospect that seems obvious.
  4. I am running pihole on my network in a docker container on my Ubuntu server computer. I was port forwarding so I could host a Minecraft server and I realized, after failing to get the ports accessible, that both my main gaming PC and my server computer report the same public IP address on sites like ipchicken or canyouseeme.org. I believe this is a symptom, not a cause, but regardless I can't get any external connections through using that public IP address. I've checked the query logs in the pihole web interface and don't see any corresponding blocked request. I don't really know what to do or where to look. Thanks for any help.
  5. Update: So it looks like when I manually change the DNS server of my PC in windows, nothing happens. I don't know where it's getting its internet from, but it's (apparently) not through pihole. Even when I change the DNS server for my network entirely to the address of the pihole, nothing changes. I get no indication that anything is routing through it, yet I am getting internet access just like normal. I think somehow the network is going through pihole (or the host computer?) but its not getting registered or modified in any way. @Skiiwee29 @Crunchy Dragon
  6. Okay, DHCP is (and was disabled). I think I'll have to look through my setup and see what IP address it has. I know the host computer has a static IP, maybe my router gave pi hole a slightly different one that is dynamic.
  7. Well, it looks like I can connect to certain things. Websites that haven't been cached still seem to be accessible (although I'm not noticing the affects of pihole). Steam however is unable to connect to a server, it gives me error code -105. Also the pihole web interface isn't registering any queries. As for the pihole ip address, what I'm understanding is that the ip address I type in the search bar to access the web interface is not necessarily the same for the pihole itself? If that is the case I think I need help getting the ip address of the pihole.
  8. I do have a static IP for the host computer and therefore pihole (presumably). To disable the DHCP server on the pihole is that something I need to do in my router or in pihole directly? Also just to verify I'm testing this correctly, I'm manually entering the IP address in the DNS field here.
  9. I am running pihole in a docker container on my Ubuntu server computer. I have gotten to the point where I can access the web UI and modify settings with no problem. Before I route my whole network through pihole I just wanted to route my Windows desktop through it as a test, but when I manually enter the DNS server in the networking settings I then can't connect to anything. I'm not sure I'm using the right IP address, but I figure since I can access the web interface with no problem it has to be something else.
  10. Long story short I want to have access to Logic Pro and plan on using it somewhat professionally in the future. I have considered a hackintosh, but considering my use case I don't think it's the right choice. I obviously don't need a system with crazy power, but a decent CPU and enough RAM (minimum 16GB) is a must. I've considered getting a second hand M1 mac mini, new or used M1 Macbook pro, and I've also thought about just buying a new M2 mac mini or maybe an M2 Macbook. I know the M1/2 chips are pretty great, but is it worth spending extra on that vs getting a secondhand Macbook with an i7 or something similar? I would appreciate any thoughts.
  11. Main monitor is a BenQ EX3203R 31.5". It does not seem to affect my secondary monitor at all.
  12. I do have other cables to try. I've already tried it with a displayport and an hdmi cable and it happened with both so I'm not thinking it's a cable issue
  13. Radeon RX 5700XT, so not exactly old. I have had issues with the graphics drivers before, but they're up to date now. Maybe I can try reverting to an old version.
  14. HDR is off, I can't think of any software that would affect my monitor. As far as I'm aware it just started happening randomly.
  15. Yesterday I started noticing some really bad stuff going on with the image on my monitor. I had already been using it for several hours before this started. It is very inconsistent but when and where it does pop up it usually stays. I have tried using both DP and HDMI and it only affects my primary monitor and not my secondary monitor. This artifacting also does not show up in screenshots. Picture while in Steam using DP In game while using DP cable Watching video using HDMI cable, I am switching from fullscreen to windowed.
