  1. What sort of RAM would I look at for a Thinkpad t580, if I bought third party? It is in fact SODIMM right? It's been a while since I've done much with laptops, but it somewhat sounds like they're describing full desktop class RAM. Also am I likely to even get a cheaper price not purchasing the RAM upgrade thru Lenovo? If I ordered the lowest configurable RAM, would the device delivered still support the maximum 36GB, if I ordered elsewhere? Thanks! I really appreciate the help of someone who is more in the thinkpad world
  2. I recently switched firmwares to DD-WRT on my router. Could a more experienced networking vet advise me on how I should be setting up both bands on the same SSID? Also, if I plan on making a separate guest network, do I need to set up each network on a designated band or can I have both share both bands? Sorry for being such a n00b. Thank you!
  3. I am trying to troubleshoot an issue with my hackintosh. Is it possible to get a system to recognize a drive if it is plugged in after the system has booted? Is this very dangerous to the drive?
  4. If I do that, will I need to have the install media plugged in all the time?
  5. Ok. Booting from the install media clover menu to the ssd worked. How do I keep from needing to do this every time though?
  6. I am using clover, which I am able to access and select a drive to boot from. I can't boot from the installation USB drive. I even tried erasing the installation usb drive and re setting it up. I have three options, my usb installion drive, the ssd drive, which I installed El Capitan on before, and the recovery partition. No matter which I choose, I see the white Apple Logo on the black background and the white loading bar, which takes an extremely long time to fill, at which point it sits there full and nothing happens ever again.
  7. Please help. I'm new at building hackintoshes. I finished installation of El Capitan in unibeast and installed the drivers in multibeast, but I believe I installed the wrong drivers, because when I restart, after installing drivers, it won't boot. I see the apple logo and the loading bar, but it never makes it past that point. I don't know what to do.
  8. I have just installed OS X El Capitan on my new hackintosh build. I installed the drivers in MultiBeast, but when I restarted the computer, it will no longer boot. I assume that I installed the wrong drivers, but now I can't even boot from the USB drive that I installed OS X from initially or the recovery drive. I can only get into Clover, choose a boot drive, then watch the loading bar, under the apple logo, fill all the way, but then nothing else happens. Can anybody give me some direction here?
  9. My new hackintosh build will not show the bios setup screen. I get to the point of seeing the startup screen, but then, after about 5 seconds of seeing that, it automatically takes me to the boot loader screen (clover). I can't change it, no matter what key I press, but the keyboard does work fully in clover, as does the mouse. The motherboard is a gigabyte ga-h97n-wifi. Please help.
  10. The fan turns off quicker than it could possibly overheat. It's literally less than a second. I'm also fairly confident that I've connected everything properly.
  11. When I plug in and turn on the psu on my new build, the case lights turn on, but hitting the case power button does nothing. If I hit the reset button, the case fan turns on for like half a second and turns off immediately. That's all I can get going though. Has anyone experienced a similar issue before? I have no idea what's wrong.
