RawLobster's Achievements

  1. Sometimes when I like to hear all the things wrong with my car. It's almost like its own kind of music.
  2. Scaling for 4k is okay-ish sort of... in Windows 10. Windows 8 however (which is what I'm still using because I'm an abomination) has the worst 4k scaling you could imagine.
  3. It wouldn't be much if any, a few percent at most if I were to guess while using it. The more power would really just come from it idling but not downclocking, which is already true if you OC. Even then it's not that much. It is possible that windows power settings can mess with stuff like that especially in games, so it's worth a try.
  4. You can even get chinese wireless dongles for <$5 that use windows drivers and work plug-and-play with wireless 360 controllers.
  5. No issues here, forums or video. Windows 8, Chrome, just for reference. I wonder what's up. It is definitely strange that it seems to only be on here.
  6. Just send them the exploded remains of the battery as the return. It's still summer, fireworks are still ok
  7. Now if only they let you just keep the one you have haha I wouldn't even use it, I'm just too lazy to ship it out....
  8. I agree. It's easy through amazon too now. A friend recently sent back a doa motherboard and he said it was just a couple clicks on their website.
  9. Forgot to mention it but I do kind of agree, since you already have it I say just keep it it's a fantastic cpu and while it's not the newest platform it's perfectly good and modern enough for pretty much anything.
  10. If you were to take the money from that I would definitely not go with x299. If you're not heavy editing or rendering you can do just fine with a much cheaper cpu and platform. Even going with Intel's i7 7700k and a system around that would be a better option (better in gaming and some applications due to generally higher ipc). Although personally I would recommend going with a Ryzen 5 based system for just basic multitasking and gaming.
  11. The motherboard doesn't have wifi. You'll need either a PCIe card like the one you chose, or a USB dongle. The USB ones are good these days but if it's your main, permanent internet connection, I would go with the PCIe option. You could probably get away with something cheaper but that's a good option.
  12. I would love to see a wide range of results from people here though. It'd be cool to see some outliers and people getting better or worse results than others.
  13. One random general thing, check your laptop manufacturer's website to see if you have the correct/up to date display drivers. They can really make a difference sometimes.
  14. If you're getting the 7700k for anywhere near half price, just use that. It's perfectly competitive and is still good for productivity even if it's not an 8-core.
