I'm finally getting to the point of wanting some more performance out of my rig. I've been able to run around at 4k 60 FPS on decent quality settings on most games I play but newer games are starting to noticeably be more taxing and causing FPS dips or spikes. My CPU is bottlenecking the GPU so I'm looking for an upgrade there. I'm not after the latest and greatest, just something newer than what I currently have but will likely buy used to save some money. I did a quick search and see that I can get a 7700k for ~$150. Would that give me a real noticeable difference or am I better off getting a newer gen mobo and CPU? If so, what generation would be around my price range? I know my PSU does not really have any headroom as is and I know a lot of newer gen stuff is very power hungry, so I'm open to either Intel or AMD but ideally looking to replace the least amount of parts.
Thanks!
