This it going to be my new itx rig but I'm not sure whenever to go with the I5 or the i7. I'm mostly gaming, but I will do a bit of photo and video editing. Also I don't plan on upgrading my cpu/mobo in the next 3 years, so the i7 should give me a little bit more headroom, right? I'll overclock and watercool my that cpu for sure.

    I could get the 6600k for 200€ and the 6700k for 300, both brand-new.

    I know that you can't really future-proof a pc.

The i5 is plenty powerful enough to game, render and edit video files.

  2. So i'm finally almost done with my new computer but still haven't decided on a monitor yet. I'm interested in a ultra wide monitor but heard there not the best for gaming. I mostly play story driven games with a fair amount of BF4 and a few other shooters. I would like to hear about your experiences with ultra wide's and what you would recommend. Oh and i'm running a R9 390x so a free sync enabled monitor would be desired. Budget of $800 AUD or $550 USD

    Thanks :)

    ok found it

look at page 1-34 or page 48 of your manual

you need to download the AFUDE238.exe tool and the new BIOS from MSI into a thumbdrive

    BIOS recovery with AFUDOS command
When BIOS updating fails or causes the computer non-bootable, you can recover the
failed BIOS by the steps below.
    Preparation:
    1. Prepare a bootable USB flash drive.
    2. Download the latest BIOS file from the MSI official website at www.msi.com, and
    then decompress the file.
    3. Copy the AFUDE238.exe and the BIOS file to the bootable USB flash drive
    BIOS recovery steps:
    1. Power off the computer.
    2. Set the Multi-BIOS switch to the functional BIOS ROM.
    3. Insert the bootable USB flash drive you have made to the USB port.
    4. Boot the computer into the bootable USB flash drive.
    5. Set the Multi-BIOS switch to the failed BIOS ROM.
    6. Execute the below command to flash the BIOS:
    For example: AFUDE238 EXXXXIMS.XXX
    7. Restart the computer after the BIOS flashing is complete.
    Important
    Do not

Thanks beat you too it :P the bio is flashing now. Thank you very much for all your help!!

I'm planning a computer build I'm going to do for a friend that needs to be relatively compact to save space and not scare them away from desktop computer by trying to give them a huge desktop tower.

So I'm considering a micro ATX build in a small size computer case that may not have a mount spot for an internal optical drive /DVD drive (sorry I'm not sure which most people would call it) which would mean my friend would have to use an external USB DVD or Blu-Ray drive for anything on a disc.

My question is: are there any situations where trying to do something with a USB external DVD drive wouldn't work?

Like the computer wouldn't allow you to do something with a disc in an external disc drive because of a situation where USB devices wouldn't be detected or would be disabled.  Something like that.

I just would hate for my friend to run into a situation where something important couldn't be done all because I didn't make sure the case I choose can fit an internal disc drive.

The external drives are perfectly capable. The only difference is the sata data/power interface is swapped with usb.

    yes

400 for a desktop, monitor, mouse and keyboard. Yikes! your best bet is to get a refurbished desktop out of a school or business somewhere. Do a Google search for any local pc refurbish and repair centres and see what they have, :)

My current GS3 is not doing so hot right now, the screen is cracked, and there is now a large purple spot on one side,so i need to replace it soon.

But i am on a budget,i should hopefully have a bonus next paycheck(the 1st),and i can use that to get a new phone.

I am torn between these 2.

Keep in mind which ever i get i plan on getting an extended battery case and screen protectors and an SD card.

Which do you think i should get?

The LG G3 is a solid choice been my daily driver for a couple years now.

Its is beacause it is a Non-Overclockable chipset

The G3258 has a unlocked multiplier and half the boards bios is dedicated to oc'ing.

Some manuf. allow for G3258 overclocking on B85 boards. Not sure about that one, google for a BIOS version that allows it.

Could be removed from the mainsite, but linger on the internet.

    Ok i'll have a look thanks :)

I don't understand why people hate on Seagate drives so much. Yeah so what, they have a big lawsuit against them. That doesn't make them bad drives. Saying they're prone to failing is also just a useless statement. Every drive is prone to failure one way or another. I've used both Seagate and Western Digital in my builds in which the Seagate I have has lasted longer. I've had to get both Western Digital drives in my system replace at least once.

I also have a Seagate external and a WD external. For those though I can't really say anything because I've had them both the same amount of time and they both work great.

Also, if Seagate was so bad would Linus have used them in one of their service at the office? I really think the Seagate hate should end. Every drive has problems, every drive is prone to failure somehow no matter what brand it is. Hating on one brand because you've gotten one bad drive from them or because they have a lawsuit against them that doesn't even pertain to you whatsoever is just immature. I've had a total of 3 bad drives from WD in the 3 years, but I still recommend them to people because a drive is a drive and that's how we all need to see it.

I'm officially starting the HDD Equality movement! Join me in promoting HDD Equality so no HDD gets the amount of disrespect that Seagate has gotten recently.
