  1. that one i could work with, but is it true rgb? it says 20 colors thats what i am trying to figure out @RaptorCandy a strip that will fit my pc case, that i can apply easily, and actually offers that customization. thank you for all your responses!
  2. thats 16 feet of rgb strips how do i put that in? do i just.. cut it? @RaptorCandy
  3. @RaptorCandy so they wont work at all what would you recommend instead?
  4. thank you for the responses! @RaptorCandy and @Technicolors, yeah any specific rgb solution that i could purchase tonight would be awesome. if i buy nzxt hue will that sync to aura? im guessing its just rgb strips but im not versed in the rgb game
  5. so i have a new 750d obsidian case, new motherboard, new 7700k, new ram, aio.. the case just doesnt light as it should. its big.. more or less, im trying to figure out what kind of rgb lighting will work with aura on my maximus IX motherboard, just to give it a bit of umph. i dont know what exactly is compatible as far as rgb. ive never messed around with it before. but this big case, i want to see my components. no real budget or anything, just trying to figure out what would work here! thanks for any help :]
  6. @deXxterlab97 Yeah i can reinstall personal programs with ease, but the work stuff is always a hassle. Has been everytime. However if I have too I will, my current setup is uhhh, lacking and I am just so ready to upgrade. Thanks for your help!
  7. @CmzPlusHardware Is there any potential downsides of trying to avoid it? I'm not opposed to it, but the hassle will turn a hour or two rebuild to a full day deal plus one more to get all the work crap running again
  8. @deXxterlab97 ah, so that's pretty much a requirement. Is there anything i can do as far as easing the transition? Windows backup for programs? Or do i just do it, and go for the fresh reinstall and hope for the best? I of course have important documents backed up, but am curious. Thanks for your quick answer!
  9. So I currently have a crappy mobo, and amd athlon cpu. I mean 5-6 years old stuff, I've found myself in a better position nowadays and am upgrading. Intel i7-7700k, asus maximus IX hero mobo, h100i aio cpu cooler, new case new corsair vengeance ddr4 ram, my gpy and psu i can live with for now no problem they were upgraded a year or two ago. My question is, Will i have to do a fresh install of windows on my ssd to run this new equipment? Are there ways around that if i do? and generally speaking what is best practice? I work from home, and my pc is both personal and work use, and I do plan on doing the upgrade over a weekend. However the work programs and such are finicky when trying to get them back up and running after a fresh install (have done before to upgrade to windows 10 pro and run vm, hehe vpn sorry) i have 2 other storage drives i can back things up on, but not too sure what a best practice or way to do this is. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and advice :] -sun
  10. Thank you Spudbilly! I am interested in trying to overclock and get the most out of what I purchase. I am also happy you agree with the list Littelaner gave me I am taking any and all input into consideration, it is awesome to see a consensus. No compatibility issues there?(can just check pc part picker but conversation makes for good learning!) how is the bios for oc? only thing I have though so far for Littlelaners original list is maybe a different case, I wont lie i do like a big beefy awesome case. The one he presented though has some really nice looking features however, I was looking at the nzxt phantoms before
  11. Ah! Makes absolute sense, yeah I will definitely take a look at the "tier list" it isn't just watts for sure as much the failure rate and the consistency of the power flowing through, I believe that is where some of the difference between bronze silver and gold certified comes from. I appreciate your list though I'm looking through it now. I built the original one years ago and upgraded like I put in the post haha. But now with all of the different form factors for cases usb ports upgrading cpu mobo and ram and ah. I am trying to read back up on all of it and catch up again. But when it comes to trying to pick some of that out of the thousands of options and different offerings some insight is certainly useful
  12. Appreciate you guys taking a look and helping me out! i do like nzxt cases, I've looked at them before. That is a good combination Littlelaner I am definitely going to delve in a bit deeper and take a look at those parts you like. I appreciate the rationale too, that is a lot of what I am looking for in parts, and yeah the r9 runs pretty damn hot haha. any reason on the psu? mines a 750 definitely enough I'd say and is gold certified as well. 0 issue with it so far :] appreciate the help guys!
  13. So i originally got this pc, id say almost 5 years ago, built it myself. crappy motherboard, amd athlon x3 black, some crappy gpu and psu and hard drive. Since then I've gotten another case from a roommate and I've upgraded gpu and psu to a rm750 corsair gold certified and a msi r9 390 and a kingston ssd. dont have enough fan header pins on mobo for proper fan control or much else. I've found myself into some better work, working from home. I'm now running a 3 monitor setup (which surprisingly works) and a VM to get past works vpn. I am looking for some advice on components and future proofing, I have kind of fallen out of the pc building game, and am trying to get back in. Purpose of what I am looking for with upgrading is that firstly it is my personal pc, I play games (overwatch, league ((major intense stuff.. but they run at like 40fps low settings because of my cpu bottleneck)) and some single player games) but I also use it for work which I don't have much issue with but my VM is choppy, again cpu bottleneck. I am looking to future proof for another good few years. I am comfortable with my r9 390 and the power supply is serving me well, as well as the ssd. I need to get the rest up to a decent par. I want to do a full size build no mini atx or anything. For a cpu I was thinking of upgrading to a i7 6700k, or something around there if you guys have any better suggestions. Then a good motherboard and ram to go along with it. Wouldn't mind moving up to ddr4, which the i7 boards seem to want. Lastly I am looking for a new case something that has usb ports in the front, I have a wireless headset for work that i plug in the back, works but I'm bent all odd if I need to charge during work. Something that looks pretty sleek. I guess fans and all that, cpu cooler. Oh boy I am all over the place and could really use some help if anyone is willing to take some of their time and help me I would definitely appreciate it! I did read main post on this board, i am in the us. my budget is pretty flexible, i know cpu alone looking at 300+ i would like to keep it around the 6-800 dollar range overall but room to flex definitely. I do have the triple monitor setup which my gpu has no issues with its mainly bottlenecked by my crappy cpu. I don't need to purchase any additional peripherals, and I want to upgrade because it's crappy trying to play games that my gpu should easily crush and get 30-40fps low settings because the rest of my system is terrible and also future proof the rest for a good bit and upgrade gpu in another other year or two Thank you to you! Yes you reading this, I would really appreciate any help or guidance. Specifics would be awesome and rationale behind it. Thank you!
  14. im running an r3 390 that crashes my system every few days.. want to change but cant! this would be the way! :]
