  1. Touché! I suppose it really falls under the category of planned obsolescence - but I wouldn't mind if only for the fact that the Sandy Bridge platform still holds up quite well when compared to previous generations of processors. And don't get me wrong - I'm glad I have Windows 7. So much so that I'm purposefully staying one step ahead re: disabling the specific Windows Updates that plague me into upgrading to 10. No thanks, not without 100% compatibility! I just hope MS don't decide to change their own support cycle and bring it forward from 2020!
  2. Hi all - I pondered on this for a while and decided the topic is best suited for CPUs, Motherboards etc but I apologise in advance if this topic is more suited to another forum! Being the owner of a Sandy Bridge Core i7 I was disappointed when I learned that Intel decided to not release drivers for full support on Windows 10. This is regardless of the fact that they had released beta drivers in respect of the platform but then pulled them before official release. So no Opel GL 3.3 support; only legacy support which cripples the on board graphics. It's more an issue for my Sandy Bridge i3 2310m on my laptop which has dual graphics and the legacy drivers don't perform half as well as they do on Windows 7. My grievance here is that Intel's policy is normally 5 years of support for each generation of CPU - yet they dropped the ball by dropping Sandy Bridge just after 4 years. It's a shame as my machines run very well on Windows 7 and I wouldn't mind advancing to Windows 10. They also dropped Widi support which was a double blow given that I tend to use it (!) Rant over - anyone here ever get caught with support being dropped on products they know/love?
  3. I would like this ssd to compliment my current rig which up until now has only had an Apacer Usb drive to backup all of my important data. I don't trust my current hdd to preserve my important data safely and effectively ! My little world would be all the better with more Apacer goodness in it. ?
