  1. I also found them on Aliexpress at a lower price, but I don't really trust it... Anyone having luck with serious thing bought there ??
  2. Totally agree with TetraSky, Noctua fans are the best and that fan is the best of the best. Great in both airflow and pressure. I have one of them in my tiny case, totally silent during normal operation, low pitched sound when spins up
  3. There are some eBay sellers that sell the Pro version at around 350€ (420$). At least I have a backup plan
  4. Hi, I'm planning to upgrade my mini-ITX desktop, specifically to the new APUs that AMD showed this summer. I recently found out that AMD only sell them to the OEM market. Is there a way to obtain one of them from some manufacturer ? it's the same story with their Pro versions ? Thanks
  5. I'm not gonna use stock cooler anyway, I want a cool and quiet one, that's why I was looking toward Noctua or BeQuiet. Yes, the Strix Z270I is quite pricey, but afaik it's the only one to sport 2x m.2 slots. Those Intel 535 will not stay there forever... Yes, that's true but gaming will not be the main purpose for this build, I'll not go anywhere with that GTX750 and I'm not planning to replace it any time soon. It will be if -and only if- I'll OC. Not sure about it, maybe not right now, but in that eventuality cooling a (starting) 60W chip will be easier than a 90W one.
  6. All of them cost more than the 7350K, the 7500 and 7600 are not overclockable and offer slightly less single/dual core performance. So, I could slip in a 7600K but I have to consider cost and 50% more TDP
  7. Hi people, I'm planning to build me an, almost, shiny new pc. From all-black full tower cases, I'm moving my mind toward small, white, shoebox-like ones. My initial budget lies around 800€ (already planning future upgrades); I'll use it primarily for programming and web browsing, maybe some little gaming here and there and planning to screen recording and twitch-streaming some (old) console gaming; I'm gonna dual monitor, fhd, which I already have and also I'm reusing an Antec Edge 550, 2x Intel 535 120GB (in Raid 0) and an Evga GTX750 (not even Ti, my bad). Here is the list: CPU - Intel i3 7350k MB - Asus ROG Strix Z270I Case - Fractal Design Node 304 white RAM - 16GB 3000MHz, not sure about 1x16gb or 2x8gb neither about brand (Corsair or Gskill ?) Cooling - looking for some C-shape, silent cooler, I was thinking about Noctua NH-C14S, NH-L12, NH-L9X65 (yeah, not so C-shaped, but it blows air down around the socket) or BeQuiet Shadow Rock LP. Now, gentlemen, your advice will be greatly appreciated
  8. Hi guys, I was thinking about the energy consumption while listening to music. Listening through wired headphones does consume less energy than through bluetooth ? And if yes, why ? I mean, bluetooth was born to be very energy efficient and you need to send only "information", no "power", so if the signal has low power it doesn't impact loudness. I don't know the relative consumption between a bluetooth chip and 2 tiny drivers like the ones that you find in headphones, maybe someone can help me sort those things out
  9. Luckily enough, I'm in that 1%, I saw it when I changed the thermal paste the first time I opened it up (like, as soon as my hands could touch it). As Intel says my cpu has 25W of TDP, while the Q9100 has it almost doubled (45W). I don't remember where, but I've read that those laptops were also sold with a T9800, which is between those two with 35W. I think, at least I hope, that Dell made only one cooler, capable of handling 35W. Although it'll thermal throttling like hell, do you think the bios will recognize the cpu ? Almost every desktop motherboard need a bios update to support newer cpus, so it could be the same with laptop's mb, but I wonder who the hell will write such a bios to support a cpu that would never be mounted in that mb ??
  10. Hi guys, some months ago I bought an used Dell Latitude E6400, which specs are: Core 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53 GHz Intel IG (sadly not the Nvidia Quadro model) 4Gigs of ram (2x2gigs) 140Gigs for the (Toshiba ?) HDD I recently upgraded it with an Adata SP550 120Gigs SSD for boot, keeping the HDD with one fo those "hdd-to-cd-writer-adapter-things". I was wondering if it can be upgraded somehow without throwing it all away nor selling my kidney for it, so 8 gigs of ram are not an option. Instead I found used cpus on eBay with the same socket and - as ark.intel.com says - even same chipset and memory controller compatibility. So, it would be possible to stuff a Q9100 and hopes it would boot ? If not (which I think it will be), what does stop me to make it run ?
  11. Hi m8s ! The first time I saw Linus advertising that I was "OMG it has usb type c AND sata !!!one!1". I wish to have one to take with me all my personal data, to take it everyday in my pocket. I think people love to use SSDs 'cause they are Stupendous Storage Devices
