  1. I though about running the fan from a 4 pin on my motherboard, drilling a hole to stick the wire through on the psu etc.... It's just really not very elegant
  2. Just replaced the fan in my psu with a noctua nf-f12 (I'm a major silence freak), connected 12v and ground, usual stuff. It appears the psu does not provide enough starting voltage to start the noctua fan, (it does a half revolution every few seconds, but never fully gets going) However if I give it a little push with my finger it works like a charm. Any ideas what I can do to fix this? I'm a little stuck...
  3. Selling her mobo/cpu as a combo, apparently there is still a market for them
  4. Got myself an MSI gtx 960 for my girlfriends build really cheap, now i need a mobo/cpu combo for approx £140, no more! Im thinking an i3 4170 with a cheap asus H81 motherboard, oh also could we stick with intel please! im replacing her fx 6300 because its garbage and runs hotter than the sun Thankyou in advance!
  5. So I picked myself up a MSI 970 for my new build, I am a MASSIVE silence freak... As soon as my system boots into windows (GPU starts to do some work) I start getting a small irritating coil whine from my GPU, not too loud, but high pitch. When I apply a small load, say 30-50% the whine goes away completely... has anyone experienced anything like this before? is it temperature linked? thankyou in advance! EDIT: just had a thought! could it possibly be linked to voltage applied to the card? obviously under 50% load the card will want quite a bit more voltage than at idle.

  7. So im running a single stick of this: http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX421C14FB_8.pdf Kingston advertise automatic OC'ing up to 2666, all im seeing however is stock 2133. This is my mobo: https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/Z170I-PRO-GAMING/ Any ideas? thanks in advanced!!
  8. Just bought myself a Silverstone SST-ST55F-G, according to the documentation and sticker on the PSU it requires 8amps, im currently using a 13amp fused standard IEC cable (UK plug) Is this okay?
  9. Wow! upwards of 115°c on a drive... makes me feel slightly better haha My drive is on the back of my motherboard, inside a Silverstone SG13, so literally zero airflow back there. What would you guys suggest? just some thermal pads?
  10. So my Samsung 850 evo 500gb m.2 ssd is running at 68°c-73°c, Samsung's website states that these drives can operate between 0°c-70°c. Im a little worried... any ideas anyone? Thankyou!
  11. Just built my first rig! gtx 950 is doing me proud! Using an old 300gb laptop harddrive because I ran out of funds! hehe
