New Enthusiast/Video/Photo/Gaming Pc (x99)
LOCOMODDING replied to LOCOMODDING's topic in New Builds and Planning
Does anyone have any opinions? -
Hello everyone! I am building a new pc for gaming, video editing, photography etc. It needs to be able to do everything with no issues. Below is a list of parts that I currently plan on purchasing for the build. Yes, I do understand that some of these parts are overkill but, this build also needs to look sexy. The part colors should all be around silver/white/black. Must have a M.2 slot for OS and of course, max performance. The SSD is temp storage and a middle man while editing 4K video. My 2TB HDD for games, VM's, huge video files etc. Once again, some of these parts are not on https://pcpartpicker.com so they are listed as "Other". Keep the price under $3850. If you want to change something and say something is better, please explain why and your personal experience with the item. PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/n8MXHN Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/n8MXHN/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i7-6800K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor ($429.00 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($114.88 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus X99-DELUXE II ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($409.99 @ SuperBiiz) Storage: Samsung 950 PRO 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($179.99 @ SuperBiiz) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($154.85 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($119.99 @ Micro Center) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Superclocked Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card ($650.00) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 750W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.99 @ NCIX US) Keyboard: Corsair STRAFE RGB Wired Gaming Keyboard ($109.99 @ Best Buy) Mouse: Mad Catz R.A.T. 7 Wired Laser Mouse ($84.99 @ Amazon) Other: G.SKILL TridentZ Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 ($174.99) Other: EVGA DG-87 ($179.99) Other: Windows 10 Professional OEM Key ($31.99) Other: LG Electronics UltraWide 34UC88-B 34" Screen LED-lit Monitor ($780.79) Total: $3511.43

Why though? The low end 6 core for Broadwell-E isn't that much better performance. The stats are nearly the same but the price will be higher.
-
So heres the thing. I need to finish my pc by June 20. I was going to wait until Broadwell-E came out and new graphics cards come out but honestly, I don't want to be spending $800 on a new graphics card and $500 for the new Broadwell-E lineup. I'm pretty sure the 980TI and the Haswell-E line up is already amazing and the prices are currently dropping because the new line ups are coming out.

I am currently building a new PC for software development, productivity, production and video games. I currently am looking at the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti XTREME. Does anyone have suggestions for a graphics card that is less than $700?
-
My bad my buddy was listing some programs he would use and forgot it is for Windows. So, I am just curious, what would be a good 5 year build for video editing. We have a budget of around $4,500 so what would be a good build?
-
Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premier, final cut, davinci resolve 12 etc. Also want to be able to game.

Thank you for the feedback, anything else?
-
After doing some reading research, a lot of people were saying to stay away from AMD, whats your opinion?

Please list your bellows and give me your feedback bellow. Don't go to much over this budget. I am starting a new business that involves rendering 4K video and high quality images. I will need a beast of a PC that can handle it all with no issues. Since 4K video and high quality images have massive files sizes, I need to have adequate storage. I plan on using the Samsung 512GB Pro M.2 drive for my OS, main programs etc. For the two, 4TB Western Digital Black drives, I plan to use one as a backup drive and one for base storage. Then lastly for my two 1TB Samsung Evo's, I would like to use them as my main storage and editing drives in Raid 1. If anyone has any better suggestions with out going over budget, I would love to hear. For the rest of parts, I figure they will come naturally and you will understand why they were selected. Motherboard quality is very important and at this point, I do not plan on doing a custom water cooling loop, but plan on keeping the all in one systems. Because my budget is around $5,500, please keep the monitors in mind which are listed in the part list, and also, select high quality, high speed products. This very important because this system will be used a lot and is the back bone to my business.
