  1. Still doesn't start and when i put the 1 stick in slot 2 it boots and says the overclock has failed and default settings were restored. I also found that when i put the ram in the dimm slots 1+2 everything works and recognizes all 8 gigs. Should i move on or try to investigate this further? Perhaps the mobo and manual were wrong saying 2+4 were the default slots and 1+2 are?
  2. Getting ready to try this, stand by..
  3. I just finished putting together my friends first real rig and I've run into a problem.. When booting, all of the fans and the LED's in "sound card" thing on the mobo all work, but no signal is detected on any of the video sources. This is the case when i have the RAM (G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600) in DIMM slots 2+4 (recommended on the mobo and manual). When I have 1 stick in slot 2, everything works just fine. There is nothing overclocked yet, and only a few drivers have been installed. The bios on this board is absurd, but I'm thinking that the RAM may not be getting enough voltage or the mobo is defective. Both sticks of RAM work when put in slot 2, so I don't think there is an issue with them. Thanks for any advice!
  4. Has anybody ever used one of these https://www.geargrip.com/ or a similar product? I've got a HAF X case full of stuff and it weighs a ton and isn't easy to cart around to/from uni and home or to LAN parties. I would have already bought one of these straps if they were about half the price, but ~$40 for something i might only use 1-2 times a month that isn't really a must-have is keeping me from buying. This also seems like a pretty easy DIY project, but I'm not sure what materials i would use..
  5. Case is too heavy to easily move home or to LAN parties. Got one fan that clicks badly. Very dusty too, and no filters.
  6. I tried booting to backtrack on a USB drive, but the computer wouldn't recognize the drive
  7. I've been trying for hours to fix my friends computer.. It has a Tseries? motherboard in it, some knockoff psu, and is just generally cheap. Anyway, both the keyboard and mouse (and any other usb device it seems) stops working about 30 seconds after booting into normal windows 7. The backlighting on the keyboard and mouse work fine for a bit, but then start to flicker and go out completely. They come back for 2-3 seconds, then off again. To me, this seems like the psu isn't pushing enough power to make the devices work, or something on the mobo is broken and causing the same power issue, but everything works fine in safe mode. Does safe mode consume much less power? Seems like it might be a driver issue because everything works in safe mode, but every mouse and keyboard we tried did the same thing. The psu tester i have said that one of the 12V rails wasn't doing anything, and the mobo has some red lights near the I/O and a few more down near the SATA ports, one of which is probably an error code. What the heck is wrong with this thing? edit: so the mobo is a biostar Tseries, still can't find a model though.
  8. I recently upgraded my 64-bit win7 machine to win8 (via download upgrade) and got a new UPS (CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD Intelligent LCD UPS 1500VA 900W AVR Mini-Tower). Other than that, not much has changed in my system for some time. As of late, my computer will periodically stutter, both under load and not, and the audio will buzz/stutter as well. If no audio is playing the speakers will just buzz a little and the cursor will skip. RealTemp shows no CPU heating problem under load with Prime95, CPU usage does not spike either with the issue is occuring. Could it be the new UPS or a bad power supply?
