What got me even wondering about this is this disclaimer from the monitor's product page: "To enable 4K resolution at 144 Hz with DSC, an NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 20 series, AMD Radeon™ RX 5700 or higher graphics card is required. For additional information about enabling DSC, contact your graphics card manufacturer.". I just ordered the monitor so that I'd have a 4k hdr monitor that could do gsync on my pc and freesync on the upcoming ps5. This is the product page: https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG43UQ/
My current monitor is 1440p@165hz and I don't want to lose too many hz in the upgrade. A lot of games I play exceed 120fps but fall short of 165fps. (Usually play at max settings using dsr to exceed 1440p).
With my current hardware I often have to play at less than 2160p which would allow me to use the full 144 of the new monitor, but if possible, I'd like to just leave it at 144.
I guess I'll have to just play with it once it arrives.
