hi all
a month ago there was a thunderstorm where I live and I safely removed the power cable and the moment I removed it lighting struck the church and caused a black out in our street lucky for me the pc was already unplugged.
when the power came back on and the thunderstorm was passed I wanted to get back on my pc but the pc would not boot beyond the bios screen
so after some trouble shooting (mainly smashing the keyboard and pulling hair and some minor thinking) I tried to change the battery in the motherboard at first it wouldn't work so the next day I went to a computer store for some help
and there everything booted up just fine so after coming home everything worked ok
a few days later my pc would not boot bios again so I changed the battery again and all was fine again
and once again a few day's later my pc would not boot bios so pulling some more hair and some more keyboard smashing I pulled out everything and just plugged in my screens, keyboard, mouse and headset and everything worked again perfect.
so after the pc was booted up again and running fine I plugged in my external drives and everything worked fine
I closed off my pc for the day and the next day started it up again and again it would not go beyond the "press del to enter bios" screen
so again I unplugged everything except keyboard mouse and headset and the pc started up just fine
so now I am wondering what the hell is wrong with my pc
I was thinking it could be my bios chip that's broken so to fix that I need to replace my motherboard ram and cpu (or find a motherboard that's capable with my current cpu and ram)
or as a friend of mine suggested replace the power supply but I think that's strange because my external hdd's all have there own power cords
and my pc only boots if only my keyboard mouse and headset are plugged in and nowadays I can even keep my printer plugged in but as soon as one usb stick or external hdd or webcam or even a usb cable is plugged in my pc will not boot
I really don't know what I can do and atm I really don't have the money to replace all of the components
I live in belgium so everything is expensive even secondhand stuff
I'm saving up some money and maybe by the end of august I have €200 (which is just enough to buy the cpu if I can't find a motherboard to replace my current one)
so if someone can please help me by telling me what to replace it would be a great help
if this isn't enough information and you want me to do some test please tell me what tests and how (please only freeware programs because I really don't have that much money)
