  1. Within an app like discord the only input device is "Realtek HD Microphone" whether the headphones are plugged in or not.
  2. That's how I would normally change the device but the laptop doesn't actually see a new device, something to do with the Razer's audio drivers have it automajically switch outputs. The only device it sees whether the audio is player through the speakers, headphones, or HDMI is the realtek output/input.
  3. So my brother has the Razer Blade 17 and it has a built in microphone. He has a pair of Sennheiser headphones with no microphone. For some reason when the headphones are plugged in the laptop doesn't treat it as a new device and all audio is still considered "Realtek HD Audio" so the laptop switches the output and input to the headphones automatically. I just would like to use the laptop's built in microphone but there is no way to tell it to use another device.
  4. Short answer: Yes it will fit don't worry. Expansion slots refer to those tiny metal lips you had to unscrew to put your current GPU in. Almost every case will fit a 3080Ti and below because they use the standard "dual slot" thickness. Some 3rd party cards will be thicker than the FE thickness because they might have bigger coolers requiring the use of a 3rd expansion slot. Your case has 8 slots.
  5. Thanks for teaching me this. It gives me hope that my chip is most likely not dead.
  6. There are a few options you could go with when the 40s come out. In my honest opinion, your CPU is getting older but that doesn't mean it's bad. It still has 12 threads which is enough for the CPU side of CoD and Apex. A 4070 will be more than powerful enough to handle everything you do without needing to upgrade your CPU. I would say if you want the system to feel faster, save the money on a CPU and upgrade your SSD from the Crucial to a fresh install of windows on a 980 Pro which by the way you can find for under $100 on offerup. If you are dead set on upgrading your CPU, then you could go for the 5600X without having to get a new board, all you will need is a 4GB flash drive to flash the new BIOS on it. The reason why I don't think that upgrading like that is too logical is because in a year you're going to be in the same boat you are in right now. The more logical way to upgrade your CPU would be to go with a more expensive alder lake chip which will require you to cough up the cash to get a new board to go along with it. You will definitely get many more years of use out of a system like that but that brings a new problem. In 3 or 4 years you might wish you spent even more money getting a DDR5 board so that you could simply upgrade to 17th gen when it comes out without needing another new board. At the end of the day it's your opinion but I say just go with the 4070 and m.2 and if you still think you're lacking performance consider upgrading your CPU to 13th gen at the end of the year.
  7. The point of this thread was to find out if there was a way to maybe touch two magic jumpers or something that would prove the motherboard was broken or not. Based off everyone's response I think there's no way around needing a working X99 board to test. I honestly trust most people on this forum so I'll keep you in mind but I think I'll do some asking around my school and local area first to try find someone with a working X99.
  8. That is why I would like to figure out a way to test them because I would sell the good item and recycle the bad one.
  9. Ok so I built a 6850K/X99 system many years ago and probably toward the start of 2020 I was having some memory errors and was no longer able to use my XMP profile without constant bluescreens. I was able to run pretty stable again by turning off XMP so I thought bummer my memory is dying. About 6ish months after the memory issues I started to get a boot error with the code on the motherboard referring to "CPU North Bridge", I had an undervolt applied to my chip but I thought okay something must be wrong with my CPU to have memory errors and can no longer use the same undervolt settings. I went another couple of months with factory settings on my cpu/memory/gpu with no problems until one day I couldn't boot again with the same CPU North Bridge error code. I was busy with school so I just went ahead and bought a new CPU/mobo (9700K/Z370) to get going again. To my surprise, the new system was able to run XMP on my old memory and has still been going strong for a year with no errors. I would like to sell my 6850K or my X99 board but I don't know which one was the source of the issues and I can't test one without the other.
  10. I've been using Windows 11 on my 9700K / Z390 since September even though my board doesn't support tpm 2. I followed this guide (bleepingcomputer.com) way back then to get around tpm and Windows has been updating on its own and working great ever since. The latest update of Windows 11 (from about a week ago) for some reason is telling me I can't update because I don't have tpm 2 enabled and I can't seem to find a way to bypass this. Every guide or forum I've seen shows me how to get around it for a clean installation, but none of them are helping me get around it to perform an update once I'm already in 11. If anyone has any ideas on how to bypass the check I would be pleased to hear it. Thanks.
  11. I checked and my firewall is allowing incoming connections from java. As for my incoming port I think you are referring to the internal port on my settings, it does say "optional" so I removed it and it still didn't work.
  12. Are you referring to my windows defender? If so I don't know what you mean by for java but I do have rules to not block the incoming or outgoing 25565. I had the server running in the past on this PC so I don't think it has to do with windows, but I'm still willing to try suggestions. If your talking about in my router I've disabled the firewall while I'm trying to figure out why I can't open any ports.
  13. LAN works fine, I'm able to connect to the server instantly. It isn't just the 25565 port that won't open it seems to be every port I've tried. Nothing opens.
  14. I normally use ethernet only, I only setup the 2nd rule for testing with WiFi. I tried to set 0.0.0.0 as the source IP and it still didn't work. This router did completely replace the old one and the modem is still the same.
  15. Hi guys, so I've been hosting a Minecraft server for me and my friends for a couple years but my family got a new router recently and I can't seem to get the port forwarding to work for any port. My router is the Asus RT-AX92U. If anyone has any ideas that would be really helpful and thank you in advance. Things I've tried: Setting up port forwarding through the "Open NAT" router settings. Setting up port forwarding through the "WAN" router settings. Setting my IP to static Enabling UPNP Creating Windows Defender rules Updating my router/PC Switching from Ethernet to WiFi Running tracert and I'm not blocked by CGN Testing if I can open other ports like 5000:5001 This is how I set up the port forwarding rules on the new router, (.22 is my wired IP and .222 is my WiFi IP) And before you ask I am aware that these are not my public IPs, I've been using canyouseeme.org to test if the ports work which automatically gives me my public IP and can verify it is correct with ipconfig.
  16. I know I know I know I’m getting to that trust me I don’t feel good about them
  17. The first thing I want to try is balancing it but I have almost no knowledge about pumps but if I do buy a new impeller, where would I go about buying an impeller? Is the D5 universal or is mine specific to primochill? Also have there been any updates to the D5 pump in the last 5 years?
  18. Hi everyone. I’ve had a primochill D5 pump for 4.5 years & about a month ago it started making some noises, but maybe for a few seconds at a time & were very subtle so I didn’t do anything about it. Today the pump stopped working completely, it just shut off while I was editing a video & so I took my loop apart & realized it’s slightly out of alignment & a piece of the pump has been rubbing against the side of the pump for a while. I can pop it back into place but when I let go the magnets hold it in it’s wrong position. In the pictures below you can see the white dot is not centered & how it sticks to the wall when I’m not holding it. Anyone have any advice on how to fix it or suggestions? I’m really not interested in buying a new pump especially because I’ve been waiting very patiently for Icelake to build a new PC but I need my current PC in the mean time.
