Hi everyone, new guy here. About 2 weeks ago the USB dongle on my Cloud IIs started malfunctioning. It disconnects, I have to wiggle the USB plug and sometimes it works, if I move the dongle a bit it fails, and it's become annoying, so I've been thinking about replacement. The thing is, I really liked the 7.1 Virtual Surround it came with, I know it's gimmicky, but I found some games just sound too plain without it.
Currently I'm torn between different options, my budget it's around US$100 so I was considering:
a) Buying HyperX Cloud Revolvers. No 7.1 whatever, but supposedly better sound anyways.
b) Buying a sound card with some kind of virtualization and small external control. In particular the Sound Blaster Zx. And using it with the Cloud IIs.
c) Buying some external DAC like the Sound Blaster G5.
d) Save the money and just get an adaptor to split the 4 pole in the Cloud IIs into separate mic and headphones plugs and use the built in audio card in my motherboard and be done with it. Maybe use some tricky software like Razer's for the surround thingy.
I'm really not much of an audio savvy guy so I would love any advice you guys can give, other product recommendation or whatever you feel like.
Thanks!
