I've been playing this game since about 2015, when The Verse itself was just barely Port Olisar and a couple satellites. I haven't played in the past couple of months and the progress in both features and performance are astounding. I used to pull 30-40 FPS on a good day. Now I average 55 on the ground, 80-100 in space. It's ridiculous. Also, the planet tech is beautiful.

I got my custom caps from eBay, but you can also order them off AliExpress or Taobao.

Also get yourself a nice Mechanical keyboard. They're expensive, but worth every penny, type and game much more comfortable. Massdrop has a bunch of good deals on Mechs and wristrests, especially if you're in the US. Don't be afraid to go for the cheaper Gateron switches, I actually much prefer them to Cherry (I own keyboards with both Cherry MX brown and Gateron brown) though supposedly Cherry lasts longer. If you still prefer to use an analog stock for movement (Can't blame your for that) Looking into a Razer Orbweaver or something similar might be a good idea. Razer's own switches are actually not all bad, the hate is mostly from the fact that it's not Cherry, and it has a built-in wristrest, plus it's RGB and you can bind the keys to whatever you want. I haven't used it myself but it gets pretty good reviews. It's the only Mechanical gaming keypad out there as far as I know though. Logitech also makes a pad like this, but it uses standard membranes.

Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 - Vertical GPU without cutting?
Z3DT replied to Z3DT's topic in Cases and Mods
I don't have the money for that, plus I really love this case, especially the Silver edition that I have. Is it possible to design a 3D-printed bracket of some sort that would offset the GPU about an inch or so to the right, then route the cables through an open expansion slot in the case into the GPU itself? That way I'd be able to vertically mount the GPU without cutting, since the rear-I/O can just be routed through an open expansion slot. -
Damn, that's some pretty RAM right there. Interested to see the results. Good luck.

Personally not a big fan of the weathering effect, but overall I think you're doing a pretty damn good job!

Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 - Vertical GPU without cutting?
Z3DT replied to Z3DT's topic in Cases and Mods
I want to make a custom watercooling loop in the future, and that mesh is where I intend to mount the pump/res, though I suppose I could always find other spots to do that. In any case (heh), I'm aware of flex riser cables, and I intend to use one (obviously). But are there no mounting systems or brackets available that will make it possible to mount your GPU vertically without cutting? The mirror idea I suppose is an option, just not one really I like... -
Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 - Vertical GPU without cutting?
Z3DT posted a topic in Cases and Mods
Good day, modders. I intend to get an Asus ROG Strix GTX 1070 in a couple of weeks. The case I'm currently using is a Corsair Air 540, which has no official support for vertically mounting the GPU so that you can actually look at the fan shroud and LEDs that are on there. However, I'm hesitant, to say the least, to cut into the backpanel of my case to cut a new vertical extension slot/bracket whatever in my case. My question is, is there a way to vertically mount a GPU in a case that doesn't officially support it without having to do any cutting? -
With the RX480 launching in only a few days, has there been any news for aftermarket 480s? I haven't seen any on tech news sites, but supposedly the reference card is ridiculously loud, so I'm probably not going to get it.
-
Thanks for the tip. I don't intend to do any custom watercooling any time soon due to financial restraints anyway, but that's good to know.

Do these blocks also fit on 1070s? I'm pretty sure they have similar if not the same PCBs

The Corsair RGB Strafe has an option for Cherry MX Silent switches, but those are linear switches, so no tactile bump like Browns have. Another option is to get a bunch of O-rings. Those drastically silence the clicky-ness of your keys without having to buy an entirely new board.

That iChill 1070 X3 is pretty <3 Also, Shouldn't the new Intel 10-core processor be added to the list? Edit: nevermind, it's there. I'm just blind.
