  1. Nice video Taran! I use programmable keys called X-keys from P.I Engineering for live-switching in video production, also a great tool in video-editing.
  2. So, after som time saving up I'm now about to go shopping. I have been saving for a GTX950 GPU, but now got a good price for the ASUS GeForce GTX 960 Strix 4GB Will the 960 work well in my current system? I will also be upgrading to Windows 10 at the same time I get the new GPU. Later this year I'm aming to upgrade the mainborad, RAM and CPU, so in my mind I think the 960 is a good choice for the future. Just unsure if I'm missing something important with this upgrade path.
  3. Thanks for your input. Well, it's a little hard to tell what my budget is as I can only save very little each month for computer parts. Something like the 360 is definitely in budget in the next month (if I don't have to get a new windows license key...), but a 960 will take some more time saving up for me. Ofcourse is the future-proof aspect in my opinion important in a build like this, so I will have to figure out what balance works for me. Yeah, will definitely check out the Long War Mod
  4. Thanks for the input. Don't think I will trie put the GPU in the oven, seems better to just try a fresh windows install and look for a new GPU if that doesn't work. Really a shame that I don't have the windows key for this rig... Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately the keyfinder did not bring up the key. Looks like I'll have to buy a new license, don't like the idea to try with a new GPU with this problem left in the OS. I have been looking at that GPU and have a little debate to myself if I shuold get that one or the GTX950. In the end I guess it comes down to the price, but I also want to give some weight to the fact which card will be a better buy in a long-term perspective.
  5. Posting this here instead of in the Troubleshooting section as I think most of my questions is more of finding a upgrade-path and hardware, and I want to avoid splitting my questions across the forum. Backstory: I live in Sweden and have been on sick leave since 2010, and will be for some more years. Only since last summer have I been able to do some work rehabilitation in a local company, and my boss there let me this holiday have an old rig they no longer used. I haven’t been able to play much for some years now due to my illness, no money to spare and no computer available most of my time, so was hoping for some fun with this one. System: Mainboard: ASUSTeK P8H77-M LE CPU: i5 3570K RAM: 2 x 4 GB DDR3, HyperX Genesis GPU: Zotac GTX 550ti PSU: Corsair CX600, 600 Watt Case: Fractal Design Core 3000, with 3 stock fans (2 x 140mm + 1 x 120mm) OS: Windows 7 Enterprise, 64-bit SSD: OCZ Agility 3 + OCZ Vertex Plus R2 HDD: WD Caviar Green 3Tb + Seagate Barracuda 1Tb Monitor: LG Flatron IPS225 Why are you upgrading? I have some problems with this rig. My GPU crashes running any kind of games. Works fine browsing and watching videos, but trying to start eg Civ 5 and I get a black screen for several minutes and then back to desktop where a notification tells me that the drivers stopped responding. Windows is not rebooting, only black screen. I know that the 550 is an old card by now, but with my non-existing budget I was hoping to be able to play a few titles on low settings. Perhaps I’m hoping for too much? I have tried uninstall all drivers connected to the GPU and then installed the latest updated ones for this card, but no luck. On a side note: deleting all the drives I saw that a different card was used before the 550, can’t remember more than it was a Nvidia Quadro. What I would like to try is a complete reinstall of the OS to see if that will fix the problem, but I don’t have the license-key and haven’t been able to find it at the company who gave me the rig. I’m thinking of buying Windows 10, but that would also mean no money left for hardware for some time. Aim: Short term, if possible, fix the GPU issue and be able to play some games with no need to upgrade any parts of the system. Long term, follow a upgrade-path on a low budget for the whole rig. I would really like your thoughts on this one as I only have really basic knowledge on building computers and what to look out for. What is the status of the rig today and what can/should I begin upgrade over time. Examples of games I enjoy: Civilization 5, Total War-series, XCOM. Would be nice o play i 1080p and high settings, but I'm not expecting it right away with an old system and close to no money to spend on better hardware.
