ZuluBunsen's Achievements

  1. I'm "that guy" who uses a trackball (specifically the Logitech Trackman Marble) and was wondering what the best lubricant for the trackball might be. Would mechanical keyboard lubricant work? I've heard the tip of rubbing the ball on the forehead to put oil on it, but... eww. Curious to hear suggestions!
  2. Greetings! I hope this doesn't come off as a complaint, it's more of a criticism: WAN Show podcast uploads to Soundcloud are SUPER borked. I of course don't listen to it on Soundcloud, but use an RSS feed of it that I found on the forums at some point, plugged into Overcast. However, the uploads to Soundcloud (and iTunes too actually) are often days later than even the YouTube upload, are usually uploaded twice, often have the wrong album art, and many times they've accidentally uploaded the wrong audio file! Here are my two suggestions: • Clean up and correct the uploads and schedule • Provide an official link to the RSS feed (I had to go pretty deep into the forum to find that one) Just thought I'd bring this up. Thanks for an awesome podcast!
  3. A bit of an odd topic, but it seems that non-quartz clocks in Europe are running at least 6 minutes slow due to tiny fluctuations in the 50 Hz frequency of the European power grid. The original article on npr.org (here's the link) states that the reason is actually somewhat political: I didn't realize that some electric, non-atomic clocks even used the power line frequency as an oscillator, but I guess it makes sense. Quartz-movement master race, anyone? Anyway, it seems that once the electrical issue is (ahem) rectified sorry, the clocks should begin to reset themselves. I think it's always very interesting how political issues play into technological issues (timezones and software localization are great examples). It's a shame that an issue like this can cause such a real-world technological consequence, but I suppose it's a better side effect than warfare. Anyone else have any stories/examples from history where a similar kind of thing happened? I'd be interested to hear!
  4. For a while I've seen some graphics cards such as the RX 480 with, if this makes sense, straight-bladed (or in the case of the 480, diagonal), vertical fan blades as opposed to the usual design. This fan design is also found in Macs, as well as numerous other modern graphics cards. Is there a name for this design, and what benefits does it bring besides aesthetics?
  5. I'd love a Kiro! Nice, sleek, great performance.
