Greetings everyone.
So... laptop cpu in a desktop...
I know this topic has been covered countless of times on most of forums but hear me out pls
I have CPU for socket 988b rpga or G2 (i7 3630 qm from lenovo y500) and 16 Gb of SO-DIMM RAM
Laptop broke so i'm left with those components and not so great HDD
My friend and me managed to use laptop components in a desktop a long time ago. I can't name laptop or components (I forgot) but it was easy to find matching motherboard or we where just so lucky.
So... is it feasible!?
I found this Mini-ITX motherboard Yetway NF9G-QM77 on amazon. It has G2 socket and SODIMM RAM. I know it is G2 (PGA989) but on Jetway page under CPU Support there it is!! i7 3630 qm. Down side is: DDR3-1333 SODIMM and my ram is 1600. There is Mini-ITX KINO-QM770 its perfect but I cant find where to get it.
If this works I could find great use for a small PC as "semi-mobile" workstation.
I would apriciate if you think it can't be done write some points on why is it not doable, or if you know some better way or useful info please tell me
Tnx
Edit: usefull page where I found that board
