  1. You could also buy fans that use molex connectors that connect directly to the power supply instead of the motherboard
  2. I cringe every time I see my mom pull out her dell latitude d600.........she needs an upgrade Link: http://www.amazon.com/X551MA-Laptop-Intel-Celeron-500GB/dp/B00SV72ZA2/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449783096&sr=1-6&keywords=laptop&refinements=p_36%3A-30000
  3. I am not entirely sure about your issue however I would like to remind you that you must plug in ps/2 mouse and keyboards while the computer is off and then turn it on or else the computer won't detect them
  4. First you need to determine what is causing the issue so I would try a new monitor and eliminate that first. If you have ruled out the monitor as a problem then I would move on to either inserting your graphics card into an alternative PCIe slot or removing it all together and using on board video if available to determine if the problem is related to your video components. If you must move any further then I would guess that the problem is either your ram, power supply, or motherboard. I would save the processor as a last resort because processors are less likely to fail than the components previously listed.
  5. I'm not a hundred percent sure what the problem is however to answer your second question yes, the graphics card will work in all PCIe slots on the board as long as they are the longer ones although the best slot to put the video card into is the first one because it has the fastest data transfer rate. I would suggest that your perform a test boot with the graphics card in another slot if it works then you can assume that your PCIe slot 1 is damaged. To answer your first question the problem sounds like either a video problem, a ram problem, or a PSU problem so I would assess those components first if I were you.
  6. Well, my main laptop has an Intel core i5 m520 with 8 gigabytes of ram, but when I game I use my desktop that I built which has an Intel core i7 4790k with 32 gigabytes of ram and a Geforce GTX 750Ti graphics card.
  7. On my 11th birthday in May 14th, 2012 I received my first computer. That was probably one of my most exciting experiences because prior to this I was using a shared family laptop with terrible specs. The family laptop was a Toshiba with 4 gigabytes of ram and a 500 gigabyte hard drive which wasn't too bad but the processor was an older model Intel Pentium which combined with the other parts caused the windows experience index score to be a 2 or 3. The laptop I was gifted was an HP pavilion g7 with 6 gigabytes of ram and a 500 gigabyte hard drive with an AMD A8-4500M APU. Receiving the computer is what sparked my interest in computers and the reason why I repair and build systems today although I am only 14. Both then and today I am not rich so I would build an amazing gaming rig if I had the money however since I'm 14 I only get money from doing chores ever so often and mowing lawns so most of my builds are budget gaming rigs for 300 dollars or less that can run games like skyrim at 60fps at max settings but games like fallout 4 at 30-40fps at minimal settings. I still have my first laptop and will use it from time to time however it has been mainly replaced by the laptop I am using now which will be featured in another entry. I hope you have enjoyed learning about my first computer and I encourage that you follow me on social media with twitter and instagram being @ultraretrotech and facebook being the ultraretrotech facebook page, my youtube channel features both gaming and computer content both new and old.
