  1. Rig name: "I need a 980 ti for work" CPU: i7 5820k Overclocked @ 3.9 (conservative, I know) GPU: Gigabyte Xtreme-Gaming Windforce 980 Ti Ram: 4x4 2133mhz DDR4 Score: 11905 (Ready)
  2. Midgetboxing coming in hot with the Thread necro, I have a gigabyte 980 ti xtreme, and I'm not too impressed really. ASIC quality is an UN remarkable 68.5% and I can't get anywhere near 1500 MHz. It turbos to 1404 out of the box but 50mhz and above of that and its unstable asf. Needless to say I got fucked in the ass by the silicon lottery and I'm feeling quite annoyed seeing all these great reviews of this card achieving much higher clocks
  3. I just got a 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming from Gigabyte...Turbo's to 1457 mhz at 65 degrees C on the stock overclock
  4. So I think ill go for the RM650i then! Thanks for all responses guys
  5. I was wondering if a corsair RM650i (650w power supply) would be sufficient for a 5820k OC'd and a 980 Ti OC'd
  6. Thanks for the replies! I'm going with a 980 Ti so money saved probably won't get me anything better in the gpu department. I'm still torn, as aereldor said, I'm not sure if the 6 cores are gonna help much over a quad with hyper threading? Any development tools utilise the extra cores?
  7. A 4790k is $515, only like $4 cheaper than a 6700k
  8. Hello! Let me preface this by saying I live in AUSTRALIA. Not America. And as such, the 5820k costs MORE money than a 6700k, by about $60 ($579, $519 respectively). The motherboard I would get if I was going for a 6700k would run me about ~$300 AUD and the cheapest kinda not shit 2011-3 are $400+ minimum, many costing way more than that. So I was wondering, is it worth the extra ~$200+ (depending on mobo) to go for a 5820k over a 6700k? I play World of Warcraft and Battlefield 4 mainly, with a bit of video editing, but I'm starting software engineering next year at uni, and was thinking the extra grunt of the 5820k may be useful for some of the visualization stuff we do. If you reckon the 5820k is just like much better overall than a 6700k, what is a good x99 motherboard I should take a look at? Would like to be able to overclock so I can bring the 5820k up to the speed of a 6700k for single threaded work loads as it is at a lower clock than a 6700k. Cheers
  9. A lot of people had similar issues of r9 280x's coming out of the factory locked at too low voltages with too high core clocks. Sure AMD isn't directly responsible, but I think they are at least partially responsible for not ensuring their board partners are actually making quality products utilizing their technology and branding
  10. 5820k costs $579 in Australia, $60+ more expensive, Not to mention the cheapest motherboards are like $400+ Starting to look a lot like that '$1500 980 Ti System' wouldn't really work
  11. In Australia, a 980 TI Gigabyte G1 Gaming (which is basically the cheapest 980 Ti avaliable in Australia) is $1067. That would only leave $433 which can't even get you a 6700k ($517)
  12. I'm assuming it would of been the retailer's warranty, but I don't have much experience dealing with a manufacturer directly, and what I've heard from friends, it seems to be a much larger hassle to do so as typically Australian retail warranties are quite robust and there aren't many channels for dealing with an OEM directly. I will have a look into it though, thanks for the suggestion.
  13. I would of RMA'd it, however, its been about 2 years since I've got it and only really recently did I even realize it was the factory overclock being too high, I just thought it was battlefield 4 being battlefield 4, with all the complaints everyone has with the game, and when I went into the place I got it (MSY Technology) they said it was out of warranty and it would cost me money to get them to ship it to gigabyte to get them to have a look at it, and I'm not prepared to spend any money on it frankly. I built it end of 2013, not doing much research, and I haven't really started hitting the hard core gaming until recently, as I've now found myself with a hell of a lot more free time, so basically the issue has only now become a real problem
  14. Hey yo members of the ltt forums. I currently have a Gigabyte R9 280x, and frankly it's a piece of shit. Its Rev 1.0, the cooler looks like piss, the thing comes factory overclocked with an unstable overclocked lmao (constant artifacting, display driver restarts etc...) and I had to bump down the core clock by 100 mhz from the FACTORY overclock to have the thing run stable. I play a lot of World of Warcraft and Battlefield 4, pretty much the only Pc games I do play, and in WoW im getting like 40 fps on high which is disgusting, and I can pull off bf4 on high-ultra at like 60 fps barely. Recently, I've finished school and I've had a job for the last 4 weeks to keep me occupied over the summer holidays (Live in Australia) and earn a bit of money for a new computer. I have about a $3000 AUD Budget, although I'd like to spend as little of that as possible. I'm going into software engineering next year at university, and over my Year 12 software design and development course, I have benefited greatly from having multiple monitors. So I was thinking of getting a 980 ti as part of a new pc build, and picking up three monitors, mainly for productivity purposes but would like to try my hand at Nvidia Surround. I was wondering, is it worth dropping the $1000+ on a 980 Ti now, with the idea of picking up a second one later on down the line when they drop in price similar to how the 780 Ti has, or would I be better of waiting for the next generation of Nvidia cards? Not interested in going AMD for this build, had too rough of an experience with my 280x. Will a 980 Ti be able to last me into 1440p or even 4k into the future, for 4k would probs pick up a second 980 Ti, or is the current generation of cards just not up to the task, and im better off getting something like a 970 and waiting till the next generation? TLDR; Should I get a 980 Ti now, or wait? Will getting a second 980 Ti down the line be a good option to play games at 4k?
  15. Bruh. $150 AUD is basically nothing if you want to upgrade from a gtx 770. Theres defs something wrong with your computer if you can't play minecraft on a 770, and I suggest you investigate the issue further before spending money on a new graphics card. Im upgrading from a HD7970, and to get something better, like a 970, its like $500+ minimum...
