  1. Pretty damn sweet, would be useful for LAN parties and general viewing in a small appartment.
  2. but you claimed that they sucked. That's the point. You claimed something, he countered your claim. Anyways, you're right. No point in talking about that.
  3. To be fair, opinions are meant to be challenged and defended, so... no, he doesn't sound like a 馬鹿
  4. Hi, I'm running an Asus z170a motherboard and I'm having some trouble with which SATA port to use: The manual (and the internet) seem to indicate that there is no difference between any of the 6 ports, but on the actual motherboard, I see a little ''OS Drive'' sticker pointing at a specific 2 port connector. (SATA6G_3 and SATA6G_4 in this case) Do I absolutely have to plug in my SSD in this port? If so, should it be the top or bottom one? Thanks.
  5. TL;DR: I will be installing my external storage's HDD into my new PC in a few days, do I need to prepare anything (change file format, wipe it clean, etc) before plugging it in? Here's the situation: I've opened up the enclosure of my Seagate expansion external drive to find that it contains a regular 2TB barracuda HHD and a small interfacing circuit. My plan is to remove the enclosure and interface (easy to do with screws holding everything) and simply use the HDD in my system as normal. Currently, the hard drive contains random data I've accumulated over the years. All that will be backed up elsewhere, so no worries about formatting it. Everything about the drive is as when it came out of the box, no special configs were added to it. My install drive will be the 250GB SSD, so no worries there either. Here's the parts list for my built: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/XyCXTW Here's the External drive's page: http://www.seagate.com/docs/pdf/datasheet/disc/ds_ext_desktop.pdf Do I need to change anything to the drive before plugging it in? Will the data already on it stop it from working correctly with the new windows install? Thanks!
  6. After a few modifications, here's what I have: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ASRock Z97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Asus Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case EVGA SuperNOVA GS 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Upgraded the motherboard and downgraded the capacity of the HD.
  7. That's what I ended up going with... The difference between DDR3 and 4 is negligable at best in my case, and I don't forsee the need to upgrade my CPU in the near future, so the 1150 socket ends up being a better deal for me.
  8. Just updated my parts list: -Removed CPU cooler: if I want to overclock down the road, I can pick up a cooler for pretty cheap. -Improved the mobo a bit. -Changed to a Asus R9 390 from the GTX970. -Upgraded the PSU. -Dropped Win 10 since I remembered I can get an edu copy for free. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/rph4cf New parts list: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Asus Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case EVGA SuperNOVA GS 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
  9. Huh, you are right about the cpu... But I still have to upgrade the mobo though... Yeah, I looked into SLI and I think that I'll just upgrade to a stronger card
  10. Wouldn't that bring my budget overboard? The 6600k is around 100$ more than the 4690k, not counting the more expensive motherboard. Fair enough, I've switched it out for a EVGA SuperNOVA GS 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Is that a good choice?
  11. Any reason for the change of PSU? I can understand the GPU, the 390 does indeed look more powerful than the 970.
  12. Hey, I'm looking to validate this gaming rig I'm planning, any advice, recommendations and alternative parts are welcome: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/N92HCJ 1. Budget & Location I'm in Canada and my budget is around 1000$ to 1500$ (Closer to 1000$ if possible, but I don't mind paying extra for performance where it's worth it.) 2. Aim I'm looking to play triple A titles at 1080p (1440p support is a plus), maxed out. (Fallout 4, MGSV, Shadow of Mordor, Just Cause etc.) Right now, I only want to run a dual monitor setup (1 for gaming and 1 for other tasks), but triple monitor support is something I would REALLY like. I also want this computer to have a decent upgrade tree, since I'll have more money coming in a few months. Looks are kinda irrelevant, the PC will be under my desk anyways so color matching parts is useless. 3. Monitors Already have them. 4. Peripherals Same as the monitors. I have a sidewinder mouse and keyboard that suit me fine. 5. Why are you upgrading? My old Dell studio XPS 16 laptop was more than enough for demanding games... 5 years ago, nowadays, I can't even run new games at minimum settings. I'm switching to a desktop since I need the power more than the mobility. I can buy a small laptop anyways. Planned parts: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) Possible issues I'm really uncertain about 2 things: CPU and Motherboard: I don't need a SUPER powerful CPU, enough to run games is fine. For the Mobo, I want enough RAM slots to be able to pop another kit down the road to raise it up to 16GB, Support for a second card in SLI would be nice as well. I think the GPU I chose is decent at my price point, are there other alternatives? TL;DR 1000$ to 1500$ CAD. Needs to be upgradable. Triple monitor setup is a plus. WAT PARTS R GUD?
