  1. Thank you so much dude! Worked like a charm
  2. My friend needed to recover data from his laptop's hard drive, so I removed the existing drives (2 of them) from his PC and put the laptop's hard drive ( with windows 7 installed) in. That didn't work, there was some windows error, so I decided to plug his hard drives back in and restore everything back to how it was before. But now the monitor suddenly says 'No Signal'. I tried re-plugging the VGA cables on both sides but that didn't fix it. I'm fairly certain that I didn't touch anything except the hard drives' cables. Any help/advice would be great, thanks.
  3. LOL, although I ran it in safe mode without networking and that too for like 5 minutes. So, I don't think that'll be a concern. Besides, I've got bigger problems to worry about right now.
  4. So, I wanted to take security more seriously and hence wanted an AV for my system. My friend told me this is what he does: 1. Run Malwarebytes 2. Run AdwCleaner by Malwarebytes 3. Run HitmanPro 4. Run Anti-Rootkit by Malwarebytes So, I started doing the same. I ran Malwarebytes and it detected a few "Unwanted files" and I cleaned them. Then, AdwCleaner did its thing and said the system needs to restart. So, I did it. But then, as soon as it started it started behaving oddly. Boot times were much longer, I had to input the password 2-3 times before "Welcome" (It didn't even show 'Wrong password') and then as soon as I got in, Windows said "Your PC will restart in one minute. Close this window and save all you r work." and it has been doing this ever since. I have attached the AdwCleaner log file for reference. It has a list of the deleted files, few of which are Registry files. I was able to get into startup repair screen and here's what I have tried so far: 1. System Restore to previous point. - there were no points to restore 2. Going back to previous version of Windows - Failed 3. Running automatic Startup Repair - No luck 4. The command sfc /scannow (System file check) - No errors detected 5. The #2 of this guide. 6. Ofcourse, I removed the AdwCleaner.exe by booting into Safe Mode. 7. Tried the Ccleaner registry cleaning tool. System Reset is the last thing I want to do. Thanks for reading. Any help will be REALLY appreciated. AdwCleaner[S00].txt
  5. Yup, can't get into BIOS. Looking at the cable, it doesn't look like its damaged. Thank you so much for such a quick reply!
  6. Laptop: Acer E5-572G-525V ( Full specs ) So, I wanted to upgrade my laptop's RAM from 4 to 8 gigs, and I had an old stick of DDR3 just lying around, so I decided to give it a go. I used this video as a guide to fully disassemble it. (Because it isn't as straight forward as just popping the back panel off and putting in sticks) After I popped everything back in, the laptop booted but only a few keys worked (mostly the left half). So I thought I didn't connect that nasty ribbon cable properly. Unlike normal ribbon cables it is a huge pain in the butt to connect. So I popped the cover back off and reconnected that cable, only to find out that none of the keys work this time! I repeated this a couple of times, but seems like I am out of luck! I have already tried reinstalling the keyboard driver. So, assuming I connected the cable properly, what could be the issue? PS: Even the additional stick of RAM didn't get detected, but that is not my main issue now. Edit: Thank you so much, everyone. It was the cable all along. It works fine now. But the RAM is still undetected.
  7. Update: I think I am in trouble because I checked my recently used devices and it does show my phone but it also shows that it was used in the US last night. As far as I recall I didn't use any VPN service nor did I mock my location!
  8. (I know LTT isn't the appropriate place for this but I need help) So I woke up this morning checked my phone and it said, "Action required". Clicked on it and it said that I am signed out of my own account and it asked to sign in. To verify that its Google, I first typed my old password and it said that "Your password was changed 8 months ago" which is exactly what I was expecting. So now that I know its Google and not somebody else, I typed my actual password and then as usual it took me to the next page and asked me to agree to its terms, which I did and then it took me to a screen which said "Checking account info" and after 5 to 20 seconds, it collapsed and that notification stayed. I tried it again but the same thing happened. Then I tried a reboot but I was out of luck. Then I decided to completely remove my accounts and try signing in again. But I got the same results then. Then I google searched and I tried everything that I could(changing passwords, removing two-step verification, etc) but the same thing happened over and over again. Just cause you know: I am running a custom ROM (CRDroid, Android 7.1.1) but I've been using this ROM for like 2 months and its working fine, so I don't think its ROMs fault. PS: Factory reset is the last thing wanna do.
  9. Well.. thank you.. I was also considering to replace it and aIso I have an additional 4GB stick so I was about to upgrade.
  10. About 4-5 days ago, I bought a new Laptop(http://www.amazon.in/Acer-E5-572G-525V-NVIDIA®-GeForce®-Graphics/dp/B01N0DO8EX?ie=UTF8&keywords=Acer i5 940&qid=1482932904&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1). Specs: i5 4210m, GTX 940m, 4GB RAM. When running a few basic tasks(chrome, NZXT Cam, utorrent, copying files, etc) my RAM usage spikes upto 95%.(that's one of my issues) I have also been getting api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll error which I tried to fix by installing Visual C++ 2015 but the installation failed at 90% and when I tried to reboot I experienced a terrible lag on windows boot animation (video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B75a6rqn51NGQVd0c0YzSEk3cnc/view?usp=sharing) Then I tried to restore it to previous state, it worked once but then again I started to see the same thing again. I tried to run Windows memory diagnostics but it stopped at 21%. Is there something I can do or should I return the laptop?
  11. BIOS version is the latest already. I am experiencing overheating issues though.
