  1. When fiddling with the waterblock it does not move so I assume that it is seated correctly, I don't have any thermal paste with me so I can't take it off at the moment. I thought of dead pump too but the pump rpm is fluctuating between 2950 and 3000 and I can feel and hear the pump working. I assume that the thermometer for the loop is put inside of that waterblock, correct?
  2. Hello, I've seen quite some people with Noctua fans on their H100i so I decided to get some NF-F12 PWM's myself and replaced the loud stock fans. Unfortunately my temps are now through the roof on only a very mild overclock! (see screenshot). I never really looked at temperatures before I installed these fans because the system came pre overclocked to 4.5Ghz and never had any issues with it so never really bothered with finding out that information. I have proof that it was doing ~65°C on default clockspeed while running Prime95 but this is already 2 years ago. I installed the noctuas about 4 months ago but only just now looked at the temperatures during a stress test because I was updating my corsair link driver. Is this normal for a setup like mine or is there something clearly wrong? And why do the fans respond to the water block temperature instead of the actual CPU temperature? The screenshot is after about 10 minutes of stresstest, is it normal that the cooler reports 54 degrees while the CPU is actually 99? (thinking bad connection between CPU and cooler) Thanks in advance!
  3. Well it is just a compilation of benchmarks and it has the facts list at the bottom (which are most likely taken from the official intel specsheets). The point might not be entirely about upgrading my personal system but I've seen some friends of mine and people on this forum suggesting the a i7-6700K with their only argument being "It's newer". Newer does not necessarily mean that it's better right?
  4. So I was digging around a bit and comparing my i7-4790K with some other CPU's and found out that the i7-4790K is (in benchmarks) more powerful than the i7-6700K? Price comparison (in euros): i7-4790K (4.0Ghz ^ 4.4Ghz): 379. i7-6700K (4.0Ghz ^ 4.2Ghz): 389. Benchmark performance results: And if we look at the performance per watt we can see that they both score 6.6. (Source: CPU Boss) So looking at these numbers we can assume that the i7-4790K scores quite a bit higher than the current consumer flagship i7-6700K. So if you have an i7-4790k already what would be the benefits of getting a new skylake processor? Seeing that DDR4 RAM is still at a slight premium price as well as skylake supporting motherboards? I'm not sure if the 6700K gets more overclocking headroom but I am currently running 4.6Ghz on my 4790K with a corsair H100i GTX AiO water cooler and sitting around 85-90 degrees on prime95 max heat test. So again why would I spend more $$$ to get less performance?
  5. Rig name: Heavy white box Cpu: Intel core I7-4790k OC at 4.7Ghz Gpu: nVidia GeForce GTX 970 turbo edition RAM: 2*4GB Kingston Blu.
  6. hmm got it working now with multi-monitor setting in BIOS, thanks for that suggestion!
  7. will this disable my 970 or will iGPU multi monitor allow both to work?
  8. my monitor doesnt have a dvi/displayport/hdmi input only VGA and GPU does not have a VGA output. And I´m only using this screen until I move back to my own apartment where I will be using Displayport + DVI so not really worth spending the money on an adapter
  9. FIX: Hello, Before building my machine I tested it on the Mobo box with cpu and ram installed to see if it posted on my old screen (which only has a VGA cable) it did post and everything was fine. After installing it in my case and putting the GPU in the VGA does not work anymore. See specs below for more info i7-4790k MSI Z97s Krait edition Geforce GTX 970 8GB DDR3-1600 550W PSU 2TB HDD + 120GB SSD WIN10 So I have my main monitor (Acer v223HQL) plugged into the GTX 970´s DVI-I connector and my second monitor on the Mobo´s VGA connector. My main monitor is working as should but nothing appears on my secondairy monitor (which btw is a very old HP vs19). I installed all the Mobo drivers (which included the VGA adapter driver). When vga is disconnected the screen will tell me to "check wiring" and when connected it will go into sleep mode after 2-3 seconds. All cables have been triple checked so I doubt I missed something there. windows advanced display settings: http://prntscr.com/9ft0tg Any ideas?
  10. I dropped the red out of my design and went for just plain white/black. This is the result: (RAM is Kingston Blu. so that´s the only component I really want to change to match the overal design) Benchmarks: Firestrike: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9774131? (9851, graphics: 11411, physics: 11745 Combined: 4345) Cinebench: CBCPUX=791.577614 CBOPENGL=119.370825 Temps: Prime95 for 4 hours on small FFTs: 63-65°C on default clockspeed. GPU: Didn´t really benchmark this but was 60°C after 3 hours of running Arma 3 on Ultra settings (which runs at a very comfortable avarage of 50FPS).
  11. So my Genesis RX88 contains 4 buttons to switch (I think) the response time of the keyboard. Image: http://prntscr.com/9athao Actually 2 questions 1. Is this indeed the response time which you change? 2. Why would I want to go with for example a lower response time and not just always play on 1000HZ? Thanks in advance
  12. that indeed looks very freakin sexy, and just what I was looking for, unfortunately I don't think I'll be buying 2 cases since these are like $100 each I believe?
  13. 3D Mark Firestrike only uses 1.3GB, usually when I play games (monitored with EVGA precision) it will never go above 2GB. So I think 4GB will really be enough for what I'll be doing with it.
  14. I wont ever need 8gb vram, my main monitor which is used for gaming is just 1080p on the GPU, planning to run my secondary monitor(also 1080p) on the onboard graphics.
  15. that is very true. Anyway, you think this system would be able to handle all games on very high/ultra, no matter if it's a 970 or 390?
