    Good video editing laptop

well, battery of even 2 hours is fine. budget would be between 1.5 and 2 lacs.

    Good video editing laptop

weight no preference, but battery life should be moderate in case I don't have access to power. if could carry my desktop, I would. yes I am buying in india, so warranty etc and customer care should be there.

    Good video editing laptop

I don't mind it being heavy. i'm looking for an athlete, not a super model (glares at a MacBook). this doesn't have thunderbolt though. I may need it if I have to do on set capture and edits. but the specs are insane. it's great for the price. even though it's not available in India, I can have it shipped here. only thing is the warranty. thanks for this though, it's definitely short listed.
  4. hi all, a couple of years ago I received really good input on this forum for a rig I needed to edit 4k video. well i'm back to dig into the advice mine once again. i'm looking for a good workstation laptop (not a mac, please god no) that can do the same. I don't need it to be a finisher for projects, but something I can carry with me on set or to a location and use to import and do a basic edit, or to view the files I've shot. i'm the recent proud owner of a new Blackmagic design pocket cinema camera 4k, so I will be shooting braw files. was looking at some options and I had contacted dell about a good 6 core machine with a radeon pro wx7130 gpu. I was also looking at their g series laptops and was wondering if da vinci resolve and premiere would run with a rtx2060, considering it's not on their compatibility lists. nvidia is also launching their studio line, but that's in the fall, I don't know if I can wait that long, and since i'm in india, I don't know if all models will be available with warranty. any help would be much appreciated. thanks gents/ladies/others.

AMD vs Intel for video editing

awesome. so what about the 6700k. i know it's only 4 core but how's it in comparison to the 5820k especially when it has integrated graphics ? also i've heard that socket 2011 is beeing phased out and the 1150 series is in. is it safe to go for a 2011 socket when future proofing?

lol. no! you gave me a '07 processor with ddr2 ram. '07 is the year when hd was still catching up (especially in india) and we were still using dv tapes.

yer. people swear by Asus motherboards, especially their WS line for pro work.

opteron's i thought were more server processors rathern than multi-media. a phenom would put me in the same boat with an extra paddle i have to push it to 12 cores or 6 cores and 12 threads is what i gather.

yer. but i5 would be low grade for editing. i7 would be ideal. i wish i could upgrade within the fx series but i guess intel's multi-thread system has its benefits. the FX-6300 has been amazing with HD footage. but 4k is too much for it to handle. i'm wishing amd had an FX 12 core.
