djdelarosa25 reacted to vanished in 32-bit vs 64-bit on 4GB RAM
Well, to finally answer the question, I don't think this really even worth asking these days; there was a time when Windows was 32 bit, and that's just how it was unless you were crazy (remember 64 bit XP anyone?) but it has been very common (the norm I would say) to have 64 bit windows for quite some time now, so even if you don't need it for the amount of RAM you have, its a case of "you may as well", especially since that processor is 64 bit.

He does play CS:GO once a while (lmao). At least something that will run it on 1024x768 on low-medium at 100 or more fps.

Finally convinced my dad to upgrade his RAM. Unfortunately, the mobo's limit is 4GB, so we're stuck with that. So I'm going for 64-bit now. Thanks!

Thanks guys! Gonna reinstall Windows 7 32-bit since I love the classic UI. I did try 64-bit and it used 30% more memory in idle than 32-bit. so, 32-bit it is.

32-bit or 64-bit on 2 GB of RAM? I have read a lot of posts saying that 64-bit on 2 GB hogs the memory.

Dad's shitty PC. He doesn't want to upgrade it, since it'll be a waste of money for him. I'm gonna do a clean install on it tomorrow. What OS would give me the best performance?
P.S. Only Windows OS'es. From 7-10.
