  1. The screen should be fine then so I've ordered my latptop. Thanks for the advise everyone.
  2. Hi, I'm planning on getting a Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen 3. The website says the screen is "14.0" FHD (1920x1080) IPS Anti-Glare 300nits Narrow Bezel 45% NTSC Non-Touch 60Hz". Even though it is an IPS screen, does the fact that it's 45% NTSC mean that it's not that particulary amazing. There is a cheaper option that is "14.0" FHD (1920x1080) IPS Anti-glare 250nits Non-Touch Narrow Bezel" which doesn't mention being 45% NTSC, would this option be better? I plan to use the laptop mainly for coding, web browsing and occasionally for Netflix and light gaming. Everything else about the laptop seems great but I just want to make sure that the screen isn't bad. 3. Hi, I have just had a conversation with my friend. We have picked out these parts: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/WdBtBP Does anyone have any ideas of better parts, that also keep the colour scheme. For the operating system, we are still discussing our options.
  4. To everyone who is recommending that I use a license key from a third party website, I will ask my friend how they feel about getting it from that site. Here is a list of all the lists I have been given: my original build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/GctHD8 mcaldwell's i3 build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/6J9XGf tom_w141's Ryzen 5 1400 build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Xg7nJV nerdslayer1's Ryzen 5 1400 build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/bhcVTH Sanctorum's Ryzen 5 1400 build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/PHcVTH I will try and talk to my friend and go through the lists and see what is the best for them some time soon. I will also go over how they feel about getting it from that site. Thanks for the support. EDIT: Can people also change the retailers to Amazon UK or Scan.co.uk as I have used these retailers and don't want my friend to have to pay money to ship parts from lots of different retailers, I am not sure how much other companies charge as I have not used them before.
  5. Sorry, didn't realize it was a hyperlink. EDIT: It is also over budget with retail windows.
  6. I don't like the look of the £20 windows licenses. I would also like to have a physical media copy as it would be easier for my friend as the key and the media would be in the same box and they would be able to have something to boot off if the computer can't boot and can't download the OS.
  7. Please can people provide links in each your messages as I am losing track of whose parts list is whose.
  8. Also thanks everyone for all the support. I will be sure to go though the parts lists with my friend.
  9. Please can you provide a link to the licence so I can check it out.
  10. Sorry didn't see the parts list. My friend would probably want a 1tb hard drive, 120gb wouldn't be enough. There is also no windows.
  11. I will see with my friend if they would be up for an i3.
  12. It says windows 10 is not £20, it's more like £100 which raises the price to £738.76
  13. My friend is quite fixed on the price. If you could edit the parts list to include a Ryzen cpu and stay around £600 that would be nice.
  14. I thought Ryzen would be a bit out of the budget as it costs almost double and you would also have to factor in the cost of ddr4 ram. The motherboard would also be a bit more expensive as it is a new platform.
  15. Hi People, One of my friends has recently decided to get a PC for gaming and general computer use. Here is a list of the components I thought would be a good fit. If anyone has any suggestions of better components feel free to share them. Please can all parts be available from either Amazon UK or Scan.co.uk as they are the retailers I am most familiar with and have bought components from them in the past. Also please can you keep the total cost as close to £600 as possible as that is their budget. Here is the PCPARTPICKER link: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/GctHD8
