Wow uh I might be upgrading to a 8700 non-K.. for $140USD.

 

For solving a problem with my friend's PC and giving him a game I got his old B150 motherboard with DDR3.

Flash a Coffee Lake Mod-BIOS on it, use it with my DDR3 kit (1.5v is ok), and use an ES 8700 locked to 3.7Ghz with MCE.

 

(I'm in a Discord with this dude, 8th gen 6c and HT works now!)

    Mr Fox from NBR forums already demonstrate that 8700K can work in Z170 with Prema mod. He said that it's just an inconvenience.

    Yeah, this has been known for a long time. DDR3 works fine on 8th gen, and it works with all PCH from 100/200 series as long as pins are bridged.
