Of course totally anecdotal - but so far, this actually seems to be making things run smoother. Will update if this changes, but damn.

Didn't BSOD, just restarted. I've also had new motherboards, GPUs, CPUs, PSUs, and memory in this time. I can't imagine it's the hardware. That's what's weird.

I should preface this by saying this has happened on every installation of Windows on this PC. I have fully wiped drives and reinstalled it multiple times. This still happens. Sometimes when I watch Netflix in-browser, it will cause significant issues with my PC. This can range from the monitor going black for a second, the PC freezing and returning to normal, the PC locking up, or the PC outright restarting. I'm not certain, but I think this only started happening when I began using monitors with higher resolutions than 1080p. That might be related, it might not. Anyway, it just happened to me a few seconds ago. I logged into Netflix, found a show, clicked the show, and as it begins to load - the PC immediately restarted. When I log back in, nothing is wrong. Everything is working fine. I know what time this happened, so I can probably find the relevant logs that led to the crash if needed. I just don't really know which ones I need to share for it to be helpful. If you need any logs etc, let me know and I can attach them in a reply!

I've spent a good few days researching the best laptop for £500-£700 in the UK. I've looked at different Dell models, Lenovo, Asus, HP, the lot. I'm trying to find a solid laptop for work that has good built quality and a backlit keyboard. Ideally, it's 11th/12th gen Intel. I haven't had to buy a laptop in years and I'm totally lost on what's the best to get. I know many people suggest an old Lenovo Thinkpad, but I'd really rather it be new and not refurbished. I recently formatted all my drives and reinstalled Windows 11. I've installed Dashlane, OBS, Steam, EA client, Malwarebytes, Xbox, and Discord. Despite this, Google has twice told me that they have signed me out of my account because they believe it may have been accessed by someone using malware. I've run a Malwarebytes scan, which found nothing. I went through the Google recovery steps, reset my password, etc. I then did the security check-up, saw nothing suspicious. Checked sessions and the only sessions showing since resetting my PC are ones made by me, from devices I recognise. Is Google known for getting this wrong and should I be concerned? I keep checking everything to make sure nothing malicious has happened and everything looks completely normal. It's making me a bit paranoid, so any advice or reassurance would be appreciated.

I have a pretty good idea where it came from and it's completely my fault for being such a moron. But lesson learnt. In 23 years this is the first time I've been hacked so I guess it was likely going to happen eventually. At least I know not to repeat the same mistake. I'm 99% sure the new bank cards will have new details, but good point nonetheless, I'll double check over the phone tomorrow. I believe my employer pays me via my bank account number and sort code, which would stay the same regardless. But point taken, I'll check some other important stuff regarding this! Thank you.

Apologies if this is the wrong location, I did check the other forum areas, but none seemed to relate to this question. Today my EA account, email addresses, some socials, and bank card details were compromised. I believe this was due to a keylogger. Here's what I did in response: Cancelled my bank cards Contacted EA and went through the process of "dehacking" it. Setup 2FA etc. It was just an old account I totally forgot to update security on. Reset socials passwords and revoked all sessions. Reset email passwords and went through the Google security compromised steps/checklist. Contacted Dashlane about my account being potentially compromised. They told me it was not but helped me reset my Dashlane master password and logged out of all sessions just to be safe. Proceeded to then change passwords on all my accounts, revoked all sessions, and setup 2FA on all the accounts I possibly could. Formatted every single drive and fresh installed Windows via a media creation tool setup from another laptop and installed onto a newly formatted USB. I am a super paranoid person and whilst I'm confident that any major concerns have been dealt with, I will happily take the most miniscule step to help assure myself that everything should be fine. Is there anything else you recommend I do? Or have I seemingly done all the steps I can? Should I be concerned about phone number spoofing at all?

Specs: - i7 10700K - RTX 3070 TI - 32GB DDR4 Memory @3200MHz - 850W EVGA Supernova GOLD - MPG Z490 Gaming Plus - A mix of SSDs Hi all, I should begin with stating that this problem has existed across two totally different PCs and through 3 different motherboards as well. Just for the sake of transparency, my current build is at the beginning of this post. I would estimate that 40% of the time I start my PC, there's a good chance it either a) doesn't display video output, b) doesn't power my USB peripherals or c) both. This will happen on the first start-up of the day, but it may also happen if the PC is asleep for some time and then I wake it up. This happened on Windows 10 and 11, even with numerous fresh installs. It has happened on different PSUs, GPUs, CPUs, memory, motherboards, SSDs. I even tried swapping the plug socket around and it still happens. I have two monitors with different cable types (HDMI and DP) and if this issue occurs, it affects both - i.e., either both will or will not display video. I've searched online a few times and see people with similar issues who seemingly never find a solution. Usually, I just turn off the PC and turn it back on and it'll work, but there are occasions where I'll do this cycle 3 times before it works properly. Every single time this happens, the PC starts up just fine. I see the lights on, all the fans spin, the drives are active. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be or what I could try to resolve this? It's extremely tedious and it doesn't feel good hard restarting my PC this frequently. Thanks!

My old HP printer is no longer easy to use and HP's garbage system to find relevant drivers is just causing a headache. I'm long overdue a printer regardless. Are there any recommendations? I've honestly had nothing but trouble with HP so I've been looking at others. I don't know which printer brands are good. I need it for home use, predominantly just document printing.

Where did you order yours from? Is it any good?

Just updated. I'm in the UK. IKEA has disappointed me with 2 different desks due to how flimsy they are sadly.

I have no idea where to start. Desks are often overlooked in builds but I'm super fussy with it because I can't stand things not being right. Ideally, it'd be the following: 140x60x70cm (L x W x H) - I can allow for some leeway At least supported by some metal frame, or metal entirely Sturdy (no shakes when typing) No glass Have enough leg room to fit my chair under and be able to move I'm in the UK. Flashy "gaming" extras are not my cup of tea. I don't need RGB, I don't need cup holders or headphone holders. Just a desk lol. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

I can set the CPU fan pretty low without issues. As for the P14, when I set it too low, it starts making a type of clicking sound. I'm guessing that's something to do with the fan stalling? It's currently at 600RPM and it's fine.

I mean I'm able to adjust them using PWM so I'd assume yes lmao

I currently have 2x 140mm P14 PWM fans with 1x P12 PWM fan from Arctic. I'm messing with the fan curve right now and if I set it below 41% in MSI Center, I get a warning that too low RPMs may cause the fans to behave abnormally. What does this mean, and should I listen to the guide? Thanks!

I've been told my current case is not good for cooling and since I have the money currently I thought it's probably worth replacing. It's been a while since I've followed computer tech, especially cooling, so you guys are my best bet.

Avast was blocking it. I use it alongside Malwarebytes, cause Malwarebytes doesn't have real-time protection with the free version and Avast has always been pretty good for me. Never had compatibility issues between the two. SSD seems to be fine.

Right. I clean installed Windows. Installed all the usual stuff. Fresh install. Download Steam. Download Witcher 3 again, same issue at the exact same point. Is this a problem with the game download perhaps? This is insane. I think I'll try installing to my hard drive and if the issue occurs, at least it's not my SSD. EDIT: IT WAS ANTIVIRUS I'M IN DISBELIEF

When I get my hands on my USB I'm probably gonna do this. Until then, hoping fixing the game libraries will fix my install problem!

When you say a full wipe, you mean formatting the SSD and installing a fresh copy of Windows?

By reset I mean the Windows 10 "Reset this PC" option. The system runs fine, I've no issues with general use except this bloody disk write error that has come about seemingly out of nowhere. Although, I know the reset this PC tool is quite shit in general and rarely works properly.

Hi, I've been trying to install a game through Steam onto my SSD. It's reached 91% of the download and now it keeps saying disk write error. I tried all the usual stuff to fix this thinking it was likely a problem with Steam but to no avail. I then tried using Windows 10 reset to reset my OS completely, since it could probably use one in all honesty. This then failed to reset at 56% progress every single time. I used CrystalDiskInfo to check my drive's health, it says "Good 97%". Really need to get my hands on a USB to fresh install but until then I was hoping there might be some other ways of fixing this issue. Thank you.
