I have an Asus-P9X79 and I want to switch to a higher grade motherboard. Is there something I need to do before I remove the old motherboard and switching it?

I have an Intel ssd of 120 GB, with the OS and other files. I have 2 questions. 1.Is there a way to stop files from automatically installing in the SSD. 2. Can I add another SSD to the computer and increase the space with (not sure what its called: Raid or something like that) Thanks
