  1. Oh my i dont really know why i said next year i meant next semester around September but I would guess it’s a bit far out to plan. I guess I’m quite overly excited haha. I will most likely buy everything in the US so I don’t really know why I stress this now. Thanks guys
  2. Hey y'all, I´m moving to the US next year and I will need a computer to handle Video editing and Gaming. I play games like PUBG and Rocket League, but I´d be glad to be able to play games that might require higher specs. For video editing I edit videos in Premiere Pro and After Effects, but I also use Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom for photography and graphic design. I might also get into animation with Adobe Flash. In short, I use a lot of Adobe software products. My budget is 800 dollars, although I could consider doing 1000 if worth the cost. Reason for my budget is that I would want a monitor on top of this build. I already have peripherals as mouse, mousepad and keyboard. I had a taste for laptops aswell, because I would be able to have one thing for school and for home, but In reality I assume most of my heavy stuff will be done at home.
  3. I have come down to the at899 and the giant squid lavalier mic's. The at899 is clealy better, but costs almost 3 times as the squid (180 vs 50 dollars). On top of that I would need a sound recorder, which I have come down to these two: The zoom h1 and the tascam dr-40 (100 vs 150 dollars). Using the AT899 would require an xlr input, which the zoom h1 does not have, which the tascam does. I am thinking that I would buy the giant squid lavalier with the tascam dr-40, to later upgrade to a AT899 if I so please in half a year or so. This would come at a total of 200 dollars, vs the 310 of the AT899 solution
  4. Yes I have seen hat as an option although the mavic is way more portable, it literally fits in a big pocket. I am looking for that portability that clearly the karma doesn't have (hah, karma right? nah..). And yes I was intentionally never planning on using internal audio (god no!). I am wondering about shotgun mic or lavalier mics. Prefferably what that works nicely outside and when it is windy and such. A lavalier will obviously be much more portable because of the size, although I belive getting a lavalier with wind resistance would be high up in the pricelisting. Any thoughts?
  5. Hi, I am going back and fourth with my father on a deal I presented him: For my birthday we could split the price for the Mavic Pro drone, and we could both use it whenever we wanted to. Since the Mavic camera is a 4K autofocus camera with an inbuilt gimble stabilizor, I was thinking of using this is as a standalone camera for recording youtube videos (note I am not advertising, not telling the name of the channel etc, so don't come here and nag on me bout that). I was hoping if any of you know if it is possible to use this camera without flying the drone (something I think should be possible by default). Also, if this is possible, how long would the recording time be? If I then decide on using the mavic as a standalone camera, I would also need a microphone for audio. I have been thinking about both shotgun mics (like the popular røde attached on DSLR's), and about lavalier mics. I think lavalier mics would be an excellent choice, since I might decide to film with my iphone 6, and having a shotgun mic then would be rather unconvinient. The problem is that there will be alot of recording outside, for vlogs and other. So I am wondering if it would be worth it for me to buy a DSLR mic and a shotgun mic. Or buying a seperate shotgun mic and attach it to the mavic when not flying. Maybe get a holder stand for the mavic. An issue here is that I don't think the gimble will work by itself, since I will be either holding it or using a stand, So I will have to get a seperate gimble If I would like that steady recordings. Or buying a lavalier. This camera gear is a setup I am planning on using for many years coming. I am even going to go to a school with a class that records and edits alot of video, and so I am thinking having a bit more proffesional gear would be better? Well I don't know, that's why I am here. Help me guys!
  6. Hello tech buddies! Currently I have some logitech speakers, which worked great, but are now making static noises. I can't really expect much from these now since they are like 5 years old or so. I have decided to buy new speakers. I would like tp have speakers that could be connected to a bass subwoofer. The logitech subwoofer works tremendous, would it be possible to connect it with a new set of speakers (sorry if this is obvious to you, I have no exerience in speakers). I am not much of an audiophile, although I have the m50x's headphones. What I am first and foremost looking for are speakers with nice design. I really like black paired with a wood color. Currently I have ordered a new desk (ragnars r5 sit stand) and I have ordered a slickwraps bamboo skin for my phone and other stuff in bamboo. I think it is safe to say I really like bamboo wood. I would like some speakers with a nice design, prefferably with a bamboo base like the Polk Audio Hampden AM6510-A. I have also seen the Sengu SG-S132 Bamboo Speakers, but these are rarher (cheap) and I think there are better options, plus I want to use my old subwoofer, not a built in one. I really like the polka ones, and it has a 4 dtar ratibg on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Hampden-Bluetooth-Streaming/dp/B00II5T5HS/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1476768602&sr=8-1&keywords=Polk+Audio+Hampden+AM6510-A&linkCode=sl1&tag=all0369-20&linkId=ab4b9167d1fc08dda3342a71ebf22362). Although I have seen some buter bewares on peoplw saying it isn't worth it (https://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/polk-audio-am6510-a-hampden-buyer-beware-stay-away-from-these-speakers-c740147.html) I know that Bose is a really trusted company, and I have seen the bose companion 2 abd 5. I have also considered the Harman Kardon Soundsticks. I wonder if Bose might have some bamboo or wood designs, or if it is easy to make my own slickwrap or dbrabd ski, as my mother works at a printing company, so maybe they could make some high quality stickers? So to conclude what I am asking for: I am looking for good sounding speakers, although the design is the preference, where some wood style, prefferably bamboo would fit perfectly with my setup. Thanks buddies!
  7. Oh yes I have the echo which basicly listens to my command and can send out that command via skills in the amazon app. From there I would use a WOL skill and set that up for my computer. Thing is, I have no idea how to seetup a WOL. And ofc yes i could turn that off with a power switch. But really turning it on is the most important.
  8. Ooh. Thank's for letting me know anyway! oh look: here it seems as if there is another post for that!
  9. https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonecho/comments/4wlpgt/alexa_turn_on_my_computer_anyone_have_a_setup/ https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonecho/comments/3dk07k/can_i_turn_onoff_my_computer_with_echo/ These to links show questions and answer upon how to make a switch for an amazon echo dot to turn on/off a computer with a voice command. I see that these posts are 5+ months old and figured it would maybe be an easier solution now for this. I have a raspberry pi with a plexgear controller for it. I wonder if I can use this to program the pi to trigger the computer, then pair the controller with the echo dot or something like that. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  10. So I am trying to make an arduino based TV-B gone by this instructable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-TV-B-Gone/ Here is my wiring: https://i.stack.imgur.com/xLAqd.jpg[/img] So my issue appears in Arduino. When I first tried to verify the code I got an error saying I had to put const after the * in this code, both for EUpowerCodes and NApowerCodes: "const struct IrCode *EUpowerCodes[] PROGMEM = {" And So I filled out the const in the areas needed, but then I got this new error where there was an undefined reference to both EUpowerCodes and NApowerCodes. More specifically here's the error message: Arduino:1.6.0 (Windows 8), Card "Arduino Uno" TVB.cpp.o: In function `sendAllCodes()': /Arduino/TVB.pde:261: undefined reference to `NApowerCodes' /Arduino/TVB.pde:261: undefined reference to `NApowerCodes' /Arduino/TVB.pde:264: undefined reference to `EUpowerCodes' /Arduino/TVB.pde:264: undefined reference to `EUpowerCodes' collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status Error by compiling. The error occures at line 261 and 264, here I have the code from line 259 to 265: 259// point to next POWER code, from the right database 260 if (region == NA) { 261 data_ptr = (PGM_P)pgm_read_word(NApowerCodes+i); 262 } 263 else { 264 data_ptr = (PGM_P)pgm_read_word(EUpowerCodes+i); 265 } Now I have tried putting "* cons" or just "const" in front of NApowerCodes and EUpowerCodes, and removing + i, and putting "const struct IrCode *EUpowerCodes[] PROGMEM = {" instead inside of the parenthesis. Does anyone know what I did wrong or what I can add of code to fix this? Attached is the TVB file with the undefined reference error. Here is the code (I couldn't include the full code, but I have included what I think is most important. I have attached a file with the full file of the project if you want to take a look at that. void sendAllCodes() { Start_transmission: // startOver will become TRUE if the user pushes the Trigger button while transmitting the sequence of all codes startOver = FALSE; // determine region from REGIONSWITCH: 1 = NA, 0 = EU if (digitalRead(REGIONSWITCH)) { region = NA; num_codes = num_NAcodes; } else { region = EU; num_codes = num_EUcodes; } // for every POWER code in our collection for (i=0 ; i < num_codes; i++) { PGM_P data_ptr; // print out the code # we are about to transmit DEBUGP(putstring("\n\r\n\rCode #: "); putnum_ud(i)); // point to next POWER code, from the right database if (region == NA) { data_ptr = (PGM_P)pgm_read_word(NApowerCodes+i); } else { data_ptr = (PGM_P)pgm_read_word(EUpowerCodes+i); } // print out the address in ROM memory we're reading DEBUGP(putstring("\n\rAddr: "); putnum_uh((uint16_t)data_ptr)); // Read the carrier frequency from the first byte of code structure const uint8_t freq = pgm_read_byte(data_ptr++); // set OCR for Timer1 to output this POWER code's carrier frequency OCR2A = freq; OCR2B = freq / 3; // 33% duty cycle // Print out the frequency of the carrier and the PWM settings DEBUGP(putstring("\n\rOCR1: "); putnum_ud(freq); ); DEBUGP(uint16_t x = (freq+1) * 2; putstring("\n\rFreq: "); putnum_ud(F_CPU/x); ); // Get the number of pairs, the second byte from the code struct const uint8_t numpairs = pgm_read_byte(data_ptr++); DEBUGP(putstring("\n\rOn/off pairs: "); putnum_ud(numpairs)); // Get the number of bits we use to index into the timer table // This is the third byte of the structure const uint8_t bitcompression = pgm_read_byte(data_ptr++); DEBUGP(putstring("\n\rCompression: "); putnum_ud(bitcompression); putstring("\n\r")); // Get pointer (address in memory) to pulse-times table // The address is 16-bits (2 byte, 1 word) PGM_P time_ptr = (PGM_P)pgm_read_word(data_ptr); data_ptr+=2; code_ptr = (PGM_P)pgm_read_word(data_ptr); // Transmit all codeElements for this POWER code // (a codeElement is an onTime and an offTime) // transmitting onTime means pulsing the IR emitters at the carrier // frequency for the length of time specified in onTime // transmitting offTime means no output from the IR emitters for the // length of time specified in offTime #if 0
  11. Yea I guess. But I'm tryn'a make it for like what most peope can relate to.
  12. Just a video I make for fun. Nothing special.
  13. Hey guys, I am wondering if you got any tips for what's typical for teens these days because I am making a video on it (Yes I know i've been posting lots of these posts lately but It's actually this site that's most helpful). I am planning on adding effects to so would be great to have some input on that too. So far i have: Late for class (run). Get to class moment their seated (i am the one) When u see the bus and ure about to miss it (run) Conversations be like (dab, "hey", dab, "hey" (conversation goes so on)). Temptation of doing something you shouldn't (run in class hallway when other classes have exams even though signs says be quiet) When u get that snapstreak goal When u forgot to deliver your packed lunch after school and mom yells (run) When u say ur gonna stop doing something atm. But accidently do it again When u owe 1 guy money and you forgot it one day. And everyone keeps telling you to pay and that you owe them money too (even tho you don't). When ur teacher checks ur homework which u forgot to do.
