  1. The backplate has the screw positions for your mounts to screw onto. How are you supposed to mount anything without any mounts?
  2. I have a multi-function rice cooker that was recently spitting out error codes, until I opened it up and saw that this probe thing (pics are attached) inside the lid of the cooker had one of the two wires cut. I reconnected them by spinning 'em together and putting some tape over it (I don't have solder kit ayy), and after re-assembling the cooker the error code is gone. However, before I start testing the thing (this is a high-heat output device, I don't want to mess things up) I want to figure out what the probe thing is. A temperature probe or something?
  3. Yep, that's the answer that I was expecting lol. The 3600x for the MSRP of the 3600. Stressing out if I should burn my money now or wait until Black Friday.
  4. You'e clearly saving $35 from the previous Amazon price. Are you confusing the 3600x with the regular 3600?
  5. The 3600 has been around $200, while the 3600x has been around $235-250. Haven't seen a price drop this big for the Ryzen 5 3600x until now. PCPartPicker graph Amazon price history
  6. How would the process for returning components with game codes and other stuff work? The Ryzen 5 3600x is $199 on Amazon right now, but I'm still anticipating deep r5 3600 deals at around $170. However, the current 3600x Amazon sale includes a game and Xbox Game Pass. I'm planning to buy it to secure my deal but return it if I spot a better 3600 deal. Do I just not redeem the codes I receive for the 3600x when I'm returning them? Stressing super hard over these pre-Black Friday deals right now.
  7. The $177 is already a great discount in my opinion, given the popularity. I would wait around Christmas or even later, but I need to upgrade my PCs now because of reasons. I'm kinda divided between the 2700x and the 3600, but I'm leaning towards the 3600 if prices for the 2700x don't drop further.
  8. I'm currently looking at this ebay listing for the 3600, at about $177 if you include the coupon code in your cart. I know this is already a good deal but I want to know other people's opinions on if this chip might drop even lower for Black Friday or Cyber Monday. A lot of people are bringing up the massive popularity and the manufacturing issues, saying that a huge drop won't be likely. Thoughts?
  9. Yeah, I know the Capstone series are a Tier A but I'm just worrying about age. Maybe I'm getting trolled by these redditors. Actually, most of the older reviews on Newegg haven't been changed to lower scores so it's probably all fine. Ignore this thread please, I should've just spend 5 more minutes thinking.
  10. Recently I saw the Rosewill CAPSTONE 550M 550W Semi-Modular Power Supply (80 PLUS GOLD Certified) for $45 on Newegg. I decided to buy it because it's super cheap for a PSU like that; 80+ gold and semi-modular are at least $70. However, I saw some discussion on r/buildapcsales about how the capacitors in a power supply can degrade over time and such. I looked at the release date for this and it was released all the way back in 2012. Should I be worried, or is it all fine?
  11. Thanks for the info. The cooler doesn't line up with the screw holes on the motherboard/cooler mount and that's why I need to rip them out, so buying extra screws wouldn't work. Going Linus fashion is the only way I can do. Thanks anyway.
  12. I'm rebuilding an old AM3 PC for my friend to sell to him. However, I only have an extra AM4 cooler from my build and I need to remove the screws on the heatsink first before I try zip-tying the thing or something to the motherboard. I've included a picture of the screw as a resource. Any help is appreciated.
  13. The BTX2 is a fairly new Bluetooth IEM cable and it's the cable I'm most likely to buy. I want to know if anybody here has any experience with them since reviews are pretty scarce right now. Additionally, if there are some other competitive bluetooth cables that I missed, that would be nice to know.
  14. Yeah, I've stumbled upon the different types of sounds for each word and the hundreds of different characters as well. I knew that this would be a problem for me but damn. For now, I'll try delving for more background information on my friend's friend. Thanks guys.
  15. I'm trying to write a name from pinyin into hanzi. I'm helping one of my friends find someone he lost contact with, and since Chinese is a character language there can be hundreds of different characters for one sound I am struggling quite hard. I have barely any understanding of the language so mind me if I sound dumb. The name is: Jia Ying Li. My friend says that it's in Mandarin. Any help is appreciated.
  16. Recently broke the headphone jack on my S8. Trying to see if warranty can somehow cover it, since my dad says I still have it. Do we have to pay, and if so, probably how much? I can probably just buy a replacement headphone jack and repair it myself, but if I can use my warranty then that's great.
  17. Very recently and many times before, Internet has been knocked out entirely on every single device on my network after I turn on my VPN on one of my devices. Doesn't matter if it's running on my PC or phone, it's going to knock out the Internet eventually. However, it's not like the connection is cut off, more like blocked/interfered with. When I try to load a page on Chrome it gives me an error about DNS probe. The second I turn off my VPN, I can reload a page and continue watching my Youtube video. The device with the VPN is perfectly fine. I've been using Windscribe VPN for more than a year, and my dad has an extremely fast plan with Comcast/Xfinity. Am I getting throttled or blocked by my ISP? Is it some kind of network setting I need to change? Any help is appreciated.
  18. How are you installing Windows?
  19. Yes, it's perfectly okay to hold the heatsink while placing the motherboard into the case. Just make sure your mounts and screws are tight and correct so that the cooler doesn't slip or come off.
  20. Yeah, your RAM kits should work fine. I myself had two 2x4GB of DDR3 back in the day, and I found out much later they were slightly different models with different timings and such lol. Worked perfectly fine, however.
  21. Having two of the same exact kits of RAM will most likely work, but since your motherboard is having problems it's going to be hard to find out if your RAM even works.
  22. The Zero RPM function is a good thing. The power supply does not need to pull a lot of power, meaning less work and less heat. The fan would not be needed in these low-effort situations since the power supply can handle it without overheating. By turning off the fan, it preserves the bearing on your fan and helps it last longer since it's only spinning in necessary situations. However, once you go over a certain power load, maybe during a game when your CPU and GPU are pulling hard at high frequencies and high power draw, your power supply needs the fan to cool itself down.
  23. Most Corsair power supplies have a Zero RPM mode when the power load is low enough. Your HX650 has that function. It could be that it just automatically shuts off since its a low load, seeing you have a regular 2600 and only a 1050. The B350 motherboard might be problem, since as you addressed before it requires a BIOS update before you can slot in a 2000 series chip. The seller probably ripped the "Ryzen 2000 ready" off the product page since most 300 series motherboards can support them, but the big asterisk is that you need to update the BIOS first with a previous gen 1000 series chip. I'm running off an Intel qualified RAM kit. I'm only at 2666Mhz compared to the advertised 3000Mhz. For your first steps you should try swapping slots or only one stick.
  24. They always mess with the mic and I hear them bumping it around and stuff. Don't know why they would take the effort of having a fake mic on screen, just adds clutter. I myself haven't watched the latest WAN show yet so maybe the audio was coming from the camera or some other mic.
  25. There are a couple IEMs on Massdrop near your $25 budget. KZ ASO6 for $34 and TRN V80 for $25. Massdrop is a good place to get good gear, but I myself have not looked into these two pairs of IEMs.
