  1. I mean, "tolerate" makes it sound like GoG has a lot of issues / is mostly disliked by the community. I think its the opposite. at least for me, the only reason I don't use it as much as steam is the library. literally. I like GoG more than Steam. they really emphasize consumers as priority. although, because they are so anti-DRM we don't get AAA games like steam on there. I'm ok with it tbh. I purchased TW3 from their store, would of purchased TW2 if it hadn't been a gift (steam-key)
  2. lets not kill this game/Windows store just yet ladies. lets see how the game performs and how much it will be hindered by the windows store.
  3. I think the same can be said for autocorrect/spellcheck in browsers. it can go either way. my spelling has improved after 5 years of using spellcheck. I hardly see the red lines after writing a paragraph
  4. well it would suck, yes. playing csgo at 120hz is much better than playing it at 60hz. a toaster can make csgo push over 100 frames. come on. edit: ok maybe not a toaster, but y'know.
  5. hmm, I thought he already had a build and was just looking for a monitor. instead, you're saying he isn't. he is trying to buy parts+monitor? " But it isn't as noticeable as the improvements a better gpu offers. " I don't understand this.. what improvements? you mean particles? fps over graphics any day man. wtf? lol
  6. gsync & fsync do not work like vsync. maybe a bit more research is needed from both of our parts. but I'm certain they are very different. I have a 60Hz monitor, my neighbor has a 144hz panel and plays at 120fps. the difference is night and day. He turns down stuff like heavy AA/shadows/ambient so to get the smoothness that is 120fps. I do the same for 60fps. sacrifice visuals for fps. honestly, I'm confused by your comments: " even at less fps you can have faster loading times, smoother gameplay, and take things up to max (or at least higher) detail settings and even possibly add custom texture packs and graphic intensive mods. " faster loading times? thats the job of the SSD. smoother gameplay? you mean at a higher framerate? I can make Witcher 3 look AMAZING with an i5-4690k, 16GBs, and R9 290. but it is not "smooth" unless you think heavy motion blur is "smooth" because the framerate tanks to 30-45fps. thats horrible also "Monitor overclocking is a thing but for the headaches it can cause and the relatively small performance to be gained I personally would never recommend it" is that in your experience? because for me, it has been the opposite. one click OC, no issues/hiccups and visually smoother gameplay.
  7. IPS + 144Hz = $800 usd. if money is not a problem, go for it.
  8. think you'll be doing that over 60% of the time on your PC? (really think about this, picture yourself at your desk all day) its about making your life easier/more enjoyable. you don't want to be looking at a non-ultrawide 60% of the time saying "dammit, wish I had more space" or being ingame shouting "dammit, wish I could remove v-sync for extra fps"
  9. yea, 144Hz is probably a TN panel. so the colors aren't great. better colors + viewing angle goes to the IPS. better response time + refreshrate goes to the TN. the choice was easy for me. I don't edit photos/videos, just game/reddit. so TN for me edit: Rig specs?
  10. hmm I see, its not listed on newegg for me. guess its a Europe thing. that one is 75Hz, 24", and freesync. the only 24" I find are 144Hz. but yea.. you edit/work on your PC alot? ultrawide is about space, so y'know you can narrow it down like that.
  11. imo, go with ultrawide if you work/edit a lot. usually if you only like using one monitor (because of bezel) ultrawide is great. but if you're gaming more than anything. I'd say freesync. we upgrade GPU, RAM, CPU, even SSD's for better in-game performance. but removing v-sync ingame is literally the biggest boost in fps I've seen. so having a freesync/gsync monitor will be an improvement for sure. edit; you mean this AOC freesync monitor? http://bit.ly/1TYkTbr (76Hz) or this one http://bit.ly/1TYkXI6 (144Hz) ?
  12. funny, I was about to post something similar. I am also shopping for a freesync monitor and have similar* specs. I can do 144hz in some games, but games like GTAV I can push 86fps average. so 144hz+freesync seems like the way to go for me. but I could use an extra $100 for storage. my 120GB ssd is almost full. so is my 1TB decisions, decisions edit: currently have an old ASUS 22" 1920x1080 @60hz. *
  13. check adapter properties in windows. it will tell you the panels hz. some panels allow a bit of OC. so 60Hz to 75Hz. but make sure, grab your model number and google.
